Which spitfire? Tamiya 1:32 or Airfix 1:24

Hi,

I need ur input. I know that the Tamiya is great. The Airfix, however, is bigger with more detail but $40 more. Is the fit of the Airfix at Tamiya level? Is it worth the extra $40?

Thanx

Itz

How much display space do you have? That’s a consideration.

Hi,

I have more than enough display place for the 1:24

I am in progress on the Airfix kit. It is nicely detailed and goes together well. The Tamiya is not in my stash, as I have several Spits already and have to many other larger scale kits to get done with limited space.

The Airfix Mk 1a is a product of 1970s technology, The Airfix Mk V is the Mk1a with additional parts which go a long way to addressing the deficiencies of the original kit.
the Airfix Mk VIII is a Brand New tooling and by all accounts is absolutely top-notch

Personally, I’d go for the Tamiya kit. I know that it’s smaller(I normally go for bigger is better)but you can’t deny Tamiy’a quality and ease of construction.

Which kit did you pick, @Itz_Marcus ?

I’ve not built the Airfix 1/24 kit, but I did do a Tamiya 1/32. Typical Tamiya, goes together almost by itself and builds into a fantastic model. I almost bought a second one a few months ago, but remembered that I have too many kits with no enough display space remaining.
