I’ve never used the trigger type before, and while I can see it being relatively easy and comfortable to use, I wonder if the handle would get in the way. It would certainly require the object being painted to be raised up off the work surface higher than I am used to.

Oh, and [#welcome] to the forums! Pull up a keyboard and stay a while.
I’d have to say that the best one for you is the one that you prefer. It’s just a trigger. It isn’t going to affect how it paints, only how you hold it. Get the one that you prefer.
Being that I have only used the push button type my natural inclination would be toward the second one. the only difference would be in how it feels to hold it. Do you know anywhere you could hold one of the pistol grip ones? My first airbrush or two was not only based on recommendations, but how they felt in my hands and if I thought I would be comfortable with it.
Thank you very much for the inputs.
As I can see, all of you guys or most of you modelers uses the push button type airbrush.
I wonder why you chose that instead of the trigger type, not that I’m leaning towards the trigger type, I’m just curious why.
Have you guys used the trigger type before and still chooses the push button type so went back to what you are using now?
I’m sorry to ask too many question, just want to know more of this hobby.
Thank you very much!
As far as I know the only trigger style ABs are an Iwata and the Tamiya. So most of us merely bought the most common style. I, for one, have never even seen a trigger style except online!
Yes, I know that Badger makes the Model 400, but that is really a small pneumatic spray gun for large scale work like murals, R/C aircraft and detail auto painting.
edit Ya know something? I should have looked up the model 400 before spouting! It’s a third style in that it has a “paddle” like handle that you use with your thumb! /edit
Looks like a nice AB! One of our members (MusicCity) has some excellent articles on airbrushing available HERE. Admire his work and scroll down to find the information. Good luck and we are all looking forward to your updates!
