Which hobby knife blades do you guys prefer?
The last time I bought some #11 blades the guy who owns the LHS sold me some Testors ones and said that they were much better than the X-acto ones.
I tend to agree although they are a little bigger in size.
Is there a certain brand that outlasts the others or is a better buy?
I have seen these on Ebay but don’t know if they are any good:
Just my opinion … but I prefer the #11 blade … and I too agree that the TESTORS#11 blades seem to be a little bit better than the XACTO or other brands of #11 blades.
I was given as a gift … [:D] … a box of 100 #11XACTO blades … so I have been using them for a few months … they work just fine … [swg]
And … sort of off the main topic … but I think related … I prefer to use as a #11 “blade” holder my old TESTORS MODEL MASTER knife … you know … the “ugly” one made from black resin or something … it has the knurled thumb wheel in the middle, has a storage bin on the other end, under a cap, to hold two or three spare blades … I just like the way it “lays” in my hand … and it won’t roll off the workbench … a real plus as far as I am concerned. Sorry to say … they don’t make this knife anymore … I hope my “stash” of five or six un-opened knives last me … [swg]
I mainly use scalpel blades but for a #11 I’ve always used Xacto. I’ll have to give the Testors brand a whirl. [;)] As far as blade holders I love my old Uber knife I would like to find a couple more just like it.
I’m a scalpel guy too. However, I’m running short on blades and I need to find a place to buy scalpel blades in bulk (100 at a time?) Anyone know a good place to get them? Preferrably in Canada?
