Which Deburring Head?

I’ve just picked up a Testors 1/72 Corsair. I’ve decided to build it as an “A” model. The wings come with hard points for rockets when built as a “D” model. I’ve got a Dremel and am wondering what head would be best used to knock those off.

Or is the deburring overkill and they could better be removed with a razor saw?

That was the first kit I built a few years back (and it looks it). [:D] I removed those hard points, but for the life of me I can’t remember how. But I’m sure I didn’t use a Dremel. I probably used a jewelers file and sandpaper. I guess it depends on how steady your hands are.

Don

I think BOTH the Dremel burr or the razor saw would be overkill.

A simpler, easier method this less chance of slipping and damaging the surrounding detail would be to pare away the stubs with a new sharp Xacto chisel. It might take 30 seconds ber stub, but you won’t be spending hours repairing the Dremel damage. Power tools allow you to make mistakes faster.

I don’t think I’ve seen and X-acto chisel before but I’ve never looked. I had to laugh about power tools making mistakes faster.

Slice down, slice across the bottom, remove a sliver. Repeat

Micro Razor Saw.

If you chuck the spare blade in a #1 handle, you can make yourself a micro japanese cabinet saw. This allows you to flush cut. So clean of a cut you can even glue it back on without noticing it was ever removed. I’ve done it with radiator scoops under a Spitfire.

Oohh! Now THAT’s what I’m talking about! Muchos Tacos!
