WHERE'S THE 1/72 IJN SUBS BY LINDBERG!!!!??????

[:I] Sorry. I’ve been thinking about it lately. I think they’re supposed to becoming available this month

I´m not sure, but does this mean, that Free Time Hobbies is already selling one of those:

I have a Pre Order with Free Time. I made is 12/20/2007.

I have a pre-order with Free Time Hobbies also, but for a 1/350 Repulse that I made in Feb 2007, and the model STILL hasn’t showed up yet!

July… I believe it will be July. I can’t remember the source now, but I have both of them on pre-order also, for a very long time. Sorry I can’t cite the source, but it was slated to be out in July, the reason is that they are doing some last minute clean-ups on the molds, etc. So let’s keep our fingers crossed they be ‘poppin’ by next month. can’t wait to get mine too!

OK. You guys win. I put mine on back order this morning. I wonder how many of those things are on back order.

Wonder what we can expect in terms of quality as compared to the recent Revell releases of Gato class and the U-Boat?

Test shots I’ve seen looked pretty good. For me, the argument is “it’s the only game in town” if you want a 1/72 C1 or C3 sub.

From the test shots I have seen, the quality will be a light year jump in the quality over lindberg past releases.

Here’s a test shot I found in another sub related forum. Remember this is a test shot, not a final version of the model’s moldings:

Looks nice but I wish manufacturers would take nuclear subs more seriously like this and do them in larger scales.

I’m not real gung-ho on nukes, but a 637 in 1:72 would be nice. My last two boats were 637s.

There’s talk of another delay to the end of the 4th quarter of this year…[sigh]

The thing was in my latestmodel expo catalogue . Tankerbuilder

yep its on the back cover for 109 bucks.

The bow looks waaaay too blunt, the diving planes waaaay too thick, etc…[yuck]

I’m hoping that Lindberg will drastically improve the kit’s appearance/detail before releasing them otherwise the after-market detail manufacturers are gonna make a killing!

Either way,I think these boats are going to require a lot of elbow grease and TLC if they’re going to do justice to the actual boats.

When will they be released?Your guess is as good as mine.

Personally,I’d like to see some early war conversions for each boat.

Those images were early test shots so I think some considerable clean up will be done for the final versions.

My order source (Free Time Hobbies) told me they were expecting the I-20 to arrive this month. They were gone for the Nationals for most of last week and had told me a couple weeks ago it was due mid August and if it arrived they would send it out this week after the nationals. When I get the kit I’ll post images of it here.

I called Lindberg Friday and they advised that they are in the US…but they had no idea when they would be sent to the various distributers who then would send them out to the hobby shops.

I’m guessing they are tied up at Customs or they have them but they are checking QC, and or wrapping them etc…hth

I saw one at Colpar Hobbies in Denver today. The price, if I remember right, was in the $160 range. It was the mini-sub version, I didn’t look in the box though. This will be a later purchase. Big darn puppy!

Sheesh … I could put an entire task force of 1/700 ships is the same space that ONE of these monsters is going to take up!
