My local hobby dealer has a shelf full of 1/35 T-62 tanks by Tamiya. It’s an older model from 1979 and I’d like to build one but I understand the Tamiya turret is very inaccuarate. Verlinden used to market a beautiful conversion set for his model including a new resin turret but I can no longer locate this set in any online stores.
Try Squadron. They have something like this by Verlinden;
Hope that helps,
Ben
Hello, I suggest to wait few week s for new Trupmpeter kits of T-62 and T-62M
BTW here is my work on the old Tamiya T-62 (with bad turret shape)

Yes, I’m aware of the Verlinden set at Squadron but it says in the description it’s a set for a battle-damaged tank, possibly a wreck suitable for dioramas. I don’t want to invest $60 in this set only to confirm it. I want to build a healthy battleworthy tank. There was an earlier Verlinden set featuring a turret and engine (see below) but since that could be like 10 years old it may no longer be possible to obtain it.
Gees thx for pointing that out. I have one myself. I thought I was pretty happy about it until now…[#dots]
I picked one up for under $10 at a show and am using it as a parts source for the nasty old Lindberg T-55…I know, why bother now, but sometimes I just can’t help it.
A Trump T-62…how cool.
It’s not that difficult to fix up the Tamiya turret. A 2mm thick wedge of plastic card at the rear of the turret, and bit of filler, with Tamiya putty to replicate cast texture, add rear lifting hook … and a few other details.
I think that Perth MMS reviewed the Verlinden turret and found it had its own inaccuracies anyway.
I built the T62 and used the verlinden update set. I also used all the parts I could from Tamiyas T55 because they are better molded. Unless you want to spend a lot of time with MAJOR surgery I would wait for the Trumpters T62. Should you be inclined to do the Verlinden update, I didn’t use their turret. Insted I gambled and used AEFs turret and guntube and was happy with the results. Greg.
