Where is all the bare metal foil?

Any ideas why purchasing some bare metal foil is such an issue?

The 2 model shops in our area are out of stock. The 2 mail order model shops I frequent are out of stock. Amazon has nothing but the ultra bright and I wouldn’t order it from them anyway after reading the horror stories about it getting folded in half for shipping, not to mention that I prefer to support dedicated hobby shops, preferably local but mail order if I need to.

And not to mention the “Just buy it Bare Metal Foil Company” folk-I can’t bring myself to pay $9.55 shipping on a $7.75 item. I would like to try it as I have had mixed success with chrome paint and chrome pens, but I may just have to use paint again.

Is it just the supply lines are strange right now or it is such a popular item nobody can keep it in stock, or because it is now the “New Improved” bare metal foil?

My local Hobby shop can’t keep the chrome bare metal foil in stock. He is always out. I generally have him order a couple packages of them for me. Depending on where it is in the month, it is usually less than two weeks before he has them in for me.
He can keep the ultra bright in stock, along with the black chrome.
Your local store might order some for you if you ask. The worst that could happen is that they tell you no.

With no local hobby shop in my area, I order most of my supplies from Scalehobbyist.com and they usually have it in stock.
