I’m interested to know what pipettes you guys are using. I’ve been using the Testors and they work pretty well. I tried the accordian style from Micromark and they absolutely suck. Or rather they don’t suck. They don’t hold enough of a vacuum to keep the paint from dripping out and lacquer thinner eats them alive (unlike the testors). They’re going into the recycle bin!
I’ve found a bunch of different types on the web but wondering which ones you like the best, why you like them, and where you find them at a reasonable price.
I get mine from a friend that works in the lab at the local hospital, but if you don’t have access to that, try googling “Plastic Pipettes” and you’ll find a BUNCH of places to get them.
I use Testor’s pipettes. They work well and none of cleaning solvents affect them in the least and they’re inexpensive. I think my LHS stocks them in three-packs.
Well, I ordered a batch of 500 for $12 plus shipping. They are the same size as the Testors product and they’re graduated. That’s about .04 each delivered. Compare that to about .86 (tax included) each for the Testors product from the hobby shop. I got them from a company called Marketlab.
I picked up two glass droppers at the pharmacy. Th eglass is very easy to clean, they are spotless after an entire E100 build. I thnk they were a coupl dollars.
As mentioned I ordered a box of 500 transfer pipettes from Marketlab. Well, they arrived today. A nice box filled with 500 pipettes. They are exactly the same size and material as the Testors. I ordered them with graduations of .5ml to 3ml. Very handy. I think Revell of Germany sells them this way. Anyway, the savings is huge and I’ll never run out of these, even after I drop a hundred on a buddy this Saturday. I highly recommend getting these.
