Greetings; I’m new to the forum and to building scale model arliners. I’m bascially into building civilian day-to-day transportation; which bascially is commercial aircraft and cars.
Are there any commercial aircraft lovers/builders out here? Anyone have some photos?
I’m working on my very first kit; the Minicraft AA 737. It’s going OK. Anyone complete that one?
Welcome to the forums. I build airliners although I haven’t done any 737s. Most of mine are prop liners from the thirties to the the fifties. I have several jets in my todo pile though.
Welcome. I like all eras of airliners. I was working on an Airfix 727 and had a few others waiting in the wings. As I just finished moving 3000 miles, I have yet to unpack my collection. Someday, I will see about getting some training in using these new fangle cameras. The photo of my 737 has home made decals and was built straight out of the box.
Search this area of the forum for Pierre Greutert’s Airbus A-380. Here is a topic that shows some pix of the finished model. There are several more pages that show up in the search.
I do airliners from time to time. I used to work for Boeing at the Everettt, WA plant on the big boys. 747-400, 767 and 777. Here are a couple of my builds. Welcome to the Forum and I hope we see a bunch of your work here. Maybe we can get a Group Build going for airliners sometime.
The 737-400 is the 1/200 Hasegawa kit. And the A321 is the 1/144 Revell-Germany.
Nice pics from those of you who tacked on airline builds. I’m surprised to see a low number of responses. I thought I’d find a good number of airliner builders. Where are they all?
I’ve just started to get into the airliner arena about 3 months ago. I’ve decided to go with the 1/144 boys, since that appears to be a nice compromise for both display and the ability of my fat fingers.
Welcome to the Forum. I am an airliner modeler, though I haven’t completed a kit in a long time (I think '97 maybe?) That one was a Valujet DC-9, using the Airfix kit and Liveries Unlimited decals. I’ve currently got a few Revell-Germany Airbus A320s and an A321 on my workbench. The Minicraft 737 kit is a good one. There is an even better 737-300/400/500 kit coming in the near future from Danny Coremans at DACO Products, if you decide to build another one in the future.
There is a great Yahoo Group for airline modelers that you should look into. Go to the YahooGroups website and search for airlinermodelling (one word). It is a TREMENDOUS resource for building airliners. Nearly all of the manufacturers of aftermarket airliner goodies (decals, conversions) are members of the group, and several of the kit manufacturers are too. The best builders in the genre are there, and you can learn a lot from them. You will always find an answer to whatever question you might have.
I will build a 747 one day. My father’s 65th B-day is coming up in a year or two ([%-)]better check on that) and I would really like to an old South African Airways 747 with the orange tail and Flying Springbok. We lived in Johannesburg for four years when I was little and I know given the number of times he flew on those birds for business it would mean a lot to him. Would like to light it up with fiber optics and everything. Someday…
