wheel meltdown

about 10 years ago i bought a an opel blitz “s” by testors a reissue of a italaerei kit. the kit #was 824 its been assembled at least 8 years ago resently while rearanging my german vehicle collection i noticed that the plastic is melting under the vinyl tires. the wheels did have a coat of paint on them before the tires went on. i know the tires are the problem. now i have 7 ruined wheels. what i need to know is there any replacments out there, all plastic or resin. i would hate to turn it into a burned out relic in a dino. the maultier i assembled about the same time showes no signs of this problem and it come from the same company.now to the beanch to remove the wheels and try to save the truck.

There are a few wheel sets from Azimut, Royal Model, and Tank Workshop. Go to Great Models westore and put Opel Blitz in the search box and you will get a bunch of update, PE, and wheel sets.

thanks a load ill look them up. i just hate to let a model go to the dump without tryng to salavage it agine thanks

For future reference, if you do need to use vinyl tyres, it’s a good idea to put a protective layer between the wheel and the tyres. I find that Bare Metal Foil works well for this.

Cheers,

Chris.
