What's a good partner to a Badger 175 Crescendo?

Can’t beat a stunning display of advanced silliness to break up the monotony of the day, can you? [:D]

Watching a Badger 155 Anthem on evil-bay right now… would that compliment my 175, or be a bit more like duplication?

From what I’ve read here, the 155 is a bit like the 175. I don’t recall which thread but, I’ll look for it & add it here.

Here’s the thresd

I owned both the 155 and 175, and while the 155 is better somewhat at fine detail, it would be close enough to make me think you would be better off with the 175 and a gravity fed as mentioned… there is a big enough difference in the two (175 vs. gravity fed) to make it worth your while…

Thanks Ed & Thom - saved me wasting a few quid on one [;)]

a quid = £1 = $1.89058

NP mikeiw[:D] Keep us posted on what you decide to get. Tom can probably give ya the scoop on some gravity fed A/Bs [tup]

Tried to get hold of a Thayer & Chandler 'brush, as the omni 4000 was supposed to be a goodie, but they seem a bit hard to find over here in the good 'ole U of K… [V]

I’d try to see what is avaialable (along with spare parts) locally to you… if not that, then what is available by mail order from your side of the pond… the Harder and Steenbeck Evolution line is supposedly one of the top brushes on your side and it ships from www.obeeliks.com in Belgium I believe…

This one looked good if you browse through there, pretty much the equiv of the 100LG with fine and medium tips.

Harder & Steenbeck Airbrush Evolution Silverline 0.2 + 0.4 mm But first I’d check locally… you don’t want to wait 3 weeks for a replacement needle to arrive all the way from the US.

not sure what the Euro to pound conversion is but it might be a bit pricey for ya… in that case ordering a brush and a few spare needles and tips from a local source or even www.dixieart.com might be a better outlook. I have friends in AU who say it is cheaper than buying the brush locally even with international shipping…

I just ordered from Dixieart Friday night and I got an email from UPS saying ot’s been shipped out. My regulator will be here the 24th. It left Jackson,MS at 4:30am[:D]

ok I did some digging for ya and found out the Badger 100LG is 99.99 pounds at www.Hannants.co.uk, at www.dixieart.com it is 36 pounds (equivalent) plus about $20 for shipping (10 pounds? cost) I think you are subject to VAT tax so I couldn’t figure that in but it looks to come in around the same price or a little less than the H&S Evolution if you ordered it from the states.

The H&S is 110.00 Euros which without shipping comes to 74 pounds… the Badger 100LG from dixieart comes in approximately at about 57 pounds or so without the extra needle and tip combo including shipping, but not figuring in VAT…

I guess it boils down to when ya want to receive your new brush… if its worth a few extra shekels (just to introduce one more currency type haha) then H&S… if you are not wanting to spend a ton, then dixieart and wait a few weeks, although the savings is not significant as in compared to hannants… I’d stay away from the 100LG at hannants… a bit on the high side which is par for hobby shops here too!

But if you get either the H&S Evolution or 100LG spare parts are available in the UK for both…

What’s a few yen between friends[:D] I think I’d go with the dixieart and wait it out. Of course, that’s just me[swg]

Tom / Ed, yet more nuggets of useful info… I wish more of the threads were like this one. [:D]

I’ll check it out over the weekend. If I ordered from outside the European Union, any import might be subject to Import Duy, of it’s over a certain value, or gets picked up & rattled by HM Customs & Excise when it enters the country. On small priced items that shouldn’t be a problem, but the Post Office charge an exorbitant sum for collecting the duty, which in proportion to the cost of the item AND the duty bumps the price up a LOT… [V]

Now that’s interesting… I didn’t know about there being an additional charge on something if it’s over a certain amount[:O] Bet Robin Hood is rolling over in his grave[xx(]

Fellas, I’m off to Reno shortly[:P] I’ve got my hobby list made out as well[:D] I’ll look for the Tenax or Ambroids while I’m there. I like going into High Sierra Models in Reno as the owner is pretty cool & helpful. Not to mention there’s quite a variety of kits & such… If I hit it big up there, ya know where I’ll be leaving my money[:-^]
