I have seen everybody elses konigstiger, and I was wondering, what colors did you use to paint that beast?
It would help a bit, because I don’t really want an off-the-wall camo scheme.
the colours i used were the Tamiya colours XF60 dark yellow, XF61 dark green and XF64 Red brown, i might use some other colours on the next Kingtiger i do
[#ditto] I second the above. Ambush pattern is the only way to go with King Tigers.
I use Humbrol enamels for my paint jobs. The tins I use are #81(pale yellow), #160 (german red brown) and #116 or #117(light or dark green) for the green

I dont have an airbrush yet how can I achieve that kind of camo if i’m gonna use a spray can only or a brush? can u give me some tips…thanks
some of the Ambush Cammo was brushed on with hard line edges others were sprayed on, and the spots were small and lots of them or big and few , the model of mine was based on a late war cammo

im going to try the Octopus cammo on my next one, i need the very late tracks and sprockets and a new rear hatch and some other bits and pieces, ive only seen a couple of photos of it before and it looks interesting
its like squiggly lines all over with circles in the lines (like the suckers on an octopus leg)
Hi beav German armor came out of the factory painted a mustard yellow. Testors has a close copy in a spray can labelles afrika musturd. The tank crews where encouraged to paint their own camo sceams using mustard. red-brown, and a forest green. Some tanks where equipped with air compressors, some where not. At the end of the war paint was in short supply. So with your king. there is no really wrong color if you stay with both alllie and german colors because tankers where great scavangers and inovators. check out the tiger page on the internet " there are dozens of examples of camo schemes and art applied to tanks in different theaters and battles and seasons If you don t have an air brush a mopped on pattern would be historcally correct. Hey great tip-I don’t have an airbrush, so, sadly, my tiger crew won’t have one either. They picked the wrong guy to get bought by, but, I will go with the mopped on thing.

Mangling the fenders/shields can be done by thinning the shields/fenders from the inside with a dremel tool and then puncturing it with a xacto knife or tool of your choice. Or, you can do it by purchasing some lead foil from either verlinden, modelmecca or possibly squadron and then molding it to the fenders and once you have the basic shape, mangle the foil. I have used both methods and they do work well with a little practice. The one thing you shouldn’t do is use open flame or a heat source to mangle the fenders/shields.
