What You Did on Your Work Bench Today

I picked up this kit earlier this week and am planning on just a rapid OOB build.

This afternoon I started the building process. I gotta say that the molding alone is quite impressive. In the sprue of black parts, Bandai managed to mold the eye lens part of the helmet as a clear green

Step 1 was assemble the helmet

Step 2 was assemble the torso

Step 3 was just putting them together…

All this was about 90 minutes work. My only gripe so far is that on the back side of the lower portion of the helmet is an assembly seam. More to follow soon…

Worked on the Panzerwerk Design tracks for my T-72 wreck…this was just a couple hours work…

Also finished assembly on the Bal’or figure from Dungeons and Lasers…still more paint to add- thinking I like the bone color on the spine and will continue it down the tail…

Finally finished up the flight deck landing lines and the catapults this morning. Tell me what you think, folks. Not too bad considering the white/yellow lines were done with paint markers. I was very worried they wouldn’t work very well and/or cause other problems for me.

Very precise work,looks good.

So, did you mask the landing lines or were they freehand with the markers?

@Jared_Finkenbinder

If you scroll up in this thread, I made a post about June 15 or 17 that shows how I did the lines.
Otherwise, here’s 2 sample pics below that show that I did mask in order to create the lines.

Wow that looks really good. Oddly I’ve never built a carrier

Looks really good. Well done.

You guys have been extremely busy!

I was away from civilization and my workbench. Now I’m back to civilization but it’s taking forever to catch up on all the things I need to do before I’m able to sit down at my workbench.:confused:

Nice view! Where is that?

That’s in western NY in Letchworth State Park about an hour south of Rochester. The river is the Genesee River and drains into Lake Ontario.

You built that? Amazing detail… :wink:

They turned out great. Looking forward to seeing the completed build.

@Cbowling

Might be several more months before it’s done. I’d like to finish the carrier this year. But carriers are so darn big with so much to build and paint, etc. I’ve been at it on and off for two years now. Can’t help but wonder if there’ll be a third year.
