What would you like to fly?

[:D]Saw this thread on the aircraft forum, thought I’d start it here. We love 'em, we build 'em, and we’d love to fly 'em. If you could, which chopper would you love to fly most? For me, it’s one of three, either the Bell model47, any of the Bell Huey series, including the Cobra, or the Hughes OH-6.

I actually flew a CH-47 once. Of course, it was already in the air when I was able to take the controls. But it was still a great feeling. I think that I would like to fly an MD-500 though. They just look cool and very agile. That would be fun.

That’s an easy one, I’d fly T.C.'s Island Hopper helicopter from Magnum P.I.

Well, I’ve been a passenger on Twin Hueys, Kiowas and a Chinook once. Never actually touched the controls though.

I’d like to try the PZL W-3 Sokol. For those who don’t know about it, its a really nice looking Polish built bird. I have another thread further on in this forum about it and in a reply, djmodels provide a link to some very nice pictures of it if you’ve never seen one and would like to.

I wouldn’t mind taking an Mi-24 Hind for a spin, just to say I did it.

I would die a happy guy if I was able to fly a UH-60 blackhawk… been a passenger a couple of times and it was great so I’m pretty sure that being a pilot would be a heck of a lot better

Well I have had the privilage to take the controls on a few ocasions.Once in a Jet Ranger, once in a A Star.I was given a
one hour training flight in a R-22,which was cool.( if you like
some serious vibrating) Also worked for a race team which owned a 109 Agusta.Got to ride alot and learned to ground
taxi .once.(that was strange). Also got alot of good heli talk and
experiances from the 3 great pilots that flew her.
All helicopter heads like our selfs should get up for a ride
in our favorite contraption.Check the flight schools in your area
to see if they give flight training demo rides. Most do for a small fee. good luck to all

I would like to fly the R-22, Bell 47, MD500 or the MD520, the Bell 430 ,407, 412, and of course the HH-65A Dauphin!

Merci!!!

UH-1 Huey, H-60 Blackhawk/Jayhawk, MH-53, HH-3F, Mi-24 Hind, and a AH-64D Apache.
Wouldn’t it be nice…

5 feet…3 feet…mains on the ground…all down, all clear.

UH-1 Huey, UH-60 Blackhawk, OH-6, MD500.
Great from the back office but the front would be even
better. Tails clear … LZ clear … Clear to land.

I was a Huey Crew Chief quite a few years back and managed to acquire about 400 hrs stick time and “she” was real forgiving and a delight to fly and hover. I also got a few hours in the Bell 206 B III, a sports car compared to the Huey and about an hour in the Bo-105. That was a hand full, but before all my time in the UH-1H. I’d love to get some stick time in the Apache and then the Black Hawk just to see what replaced the great Huey! It’s probably been over 15 years since my last stick time, but I can remember it like yesterday! I ride to and from work on S-76’s every week and sometimes in the Bell 430.

An MH-53J would be great!!! Where else can you get a 10 ton helo to do a roll!!

Just would hate to clean up after all those dirty, nastry, rotten, stink’n legs in the back that hate to fly!

If all else fails one of the MI-24’s from OTSA at FT Bliss would suffice. You wouldn’t beleive all the Russian Helo’s we have down there…

You can do a roll with a MH-53J? Holy Cow!. WOW. Backwards. WOW

Well thisone is EASY i wached M.A.S.H. almost religiously as a kid and wanted to fly in a Bell 47 soooo bad and if i ever do you can bet i’ll be singing suicide is painless…The theme from M.A.S.H…but i bet you knew that anyway…Gregers

What would I LIKE to fly??? hmm…
Well, the screenname says it all. I want my own AH-1G. Barring that, a UH-1C would do nicely… but I’m keepin my fingers crossed that the Army’s actually gonna let me fly Apaches… we’ll see!

I was fortunate enough to start my flying career at the right time in the Army. Primary was in the TH-55, tracked UH-1’s and flew those for a year prior to transitioning to OH-58’s. I flew the 58 for nearly 2 years of underpowered fun before switching to AH-1’s where I spent 3 years. I lucked out and was able to wrangle a UH-60 position and that is the ship to end all ships. I’ve also got some bootleg time in the OH-6 and have flown the Coast Guards Dauphines more than a few times (lucky again, they had an air station at the National Air Guard Base I flew from). Not much left to choose from, Apache’s don’t have any special attraction for me so I would want to try something radically different like the V-22!

Hi folks guess what. i know it wasn’t the copter that i chose but i got my ****** in the left seat of a jetranger last week. it was a hell of an experience. the pilot told me that women make the best copter pilots, but SHE would say that wouldn’t she!!! LoL…Greg

This doesn’t quite fit, because it isn’t quite a chopper. I’d like the fly that helicopter-ish thing in the movie AI.

An AH-6J!
A nasty, small, agile chopper with quite a firepower.
Like somebody calls it: a Killer-Egg.

Thats a hard one due to liking so many helo’s [banghead]. The one that i would love to the most would have to be the AH-1W.
