What was your worst kit fail ever?

Here is my epic fail Revell 1/48 B29. Whenever I feel my skills aren’t improving I pull this hunk of crap out and look at it.

And here is my epic fail Kingfisher

Since my return to the hobby a few years back I haven’t really had one, but I do have a few kits that I’ve shelved until I can either figure out how to solve the problem at hand or until a certain skill-set gets developed enough to complete the process. I have an F4F-3 Wildcat that is waiting on my NMF skills to develop, but it is otherwise complete.

As I build 1/32, I’m going to finish those investments some day… just not today.

I would say my Monogram Devastator. I could not take the terrbile fit of the kit I just had to give up. I saw it again last week and I am challenging myself to work on it again!

Mine was the airfix 1/72 Concorde, I completely screwed it up at every turn didnt last more than a few days to end up in the bin, that was not long after returning to the hobby, would like to try it again but would have nowhere to put it being that its a 93cm long kit.

I have the wall of shame above my bench. It’s airplanes I have screwed up that I think one day I will have the skills to fix. I hope that day comes soon because this is getting expensive!

Will

I went through a whole bunch of them some time ago. Couldn’t finish anything, couple of them met their misfortunes while airborne. Others went to the boneyard to become paint mules, but I did recover some and got them done. I had to build NASCAR to break out of it. Big key is to not let it get you down, it is a hobby after all.

academy’s 1/48 47N jug. the fuselage halves were major warped, wing root gap was horrible, and the fit was trash. only academy kit that gave me a problems.

It’s usually the one I am presently working on!

A measurement error resulted in a scratchbuilt Heinkel Wespe ending up at somewhere around 1/85 scale versus 1/72. The build was going well until I tried making the cockpit parts, and discovered that the pilot wouldn’t fit. I started on a proper 1/72 version, but I just lost my mojo on that one, as I kept looking at the mini-Wespe and cursing at myself.

Obviously I am the type that measures once and cuts twice Kids, don’t do this on your builds.

My worst is the HitKit MiG-3 that I am building since 2004… Latest setback is losing a tailplane during a move.
