In the movie A Team that just came out in 2010 what is the plane they flew? Was this a Catalina???
Haven’t seen it yet (I wait on movies until they get released on DVD and then borrow them from my daughter who seems to buy everything that comes out. I swear, she has about 2000 movies)… But from the trailers, and a few stills, it’s a C-130 Hercules that I’ve seen…

I haven’t (won’t) see(n) it either, but there is a scene where it’s a Herc and they leave it in an Abrams tank, I think. Amazing what those things can carry…The OP must have seen something different.
I haven’t seen a good airplane movie in a while.
Hans, I now get a lot of my dvds at the library. Amazing how much they have, and free for a week, just my style.
LOL… Yah, I’m a library guy too… Managed to get all the Monty Python movies and TV Episodes there, lol… I was rather surprised about them having the TV shows…
I haven’t bought a movie since they stopped making VHS, and every DVD I got is either a gift or borrowed, lol…
I take that back… I bought The Battle of Britain DVD at the grocery store about three years ago in the bargain bin (5.00), along with Young Frankenstein…
Oh, that’s a good airplane movie. I just bought a Clapton Concert DVD at a garage sale this weekend for a buck, haven’t seen it.
I need a good airplane movie to watch. I own The Right Stuff, but it’s lonnnggggg…
But I do like the parts inside the 29, and of course the NF 104 part.
Heh, whip out that ol’ copy of Strategic Air Command, Bondoman*…* You DO have it, yes?
Or, how about Fat Man and Little Boy? That one covers this thread (sorta), since Dwight Shultz (Original A-Team’s “Howlin’ Mad” Murdock) plays Robert Oppenheimer. Or, if it’s B-29s you’re in the mood for, my old ride “FiFi” stars in Enola Gay (Patrick Duffy as Colonel Tibbets)…
I do, and it’s a classic. In the first scene, where Dutch is screwing around playing baseball in Florida for the Cardinals, apparently Musial is in that scene.
I watched it with my buddy airman Jim, he of C-124 crew chief "fame’ in the TN ANG.
So we’re watching and all and we get to the part where they all get sent to Kadena, and they’re loading up the wing, lot’s of good footage of C-124s.
“Hey, rewind, look at that. Ah had ta do that”.
And there’s a Globemaster taxiing out through a crowd, and a dude, a “scanner” standing up in the opened nav dome watching the wing tips.
He knew ALL about the care and feeding of R4360’s.
He got me started on building a model of every a/c that flew with an R4360. Surprisingly short list, and I’m somewhat into it.
Great KC-97 scene, yep that’s a good flick except June Allyson is rough to take in that one.
The scene where Hawkes shows Dutch the B-47 I think was shot here at Hamilton.
Something I haven’t seen. I’ll check out Enola Gay. Jeez, my month to get interested in B-29s.
Ala the directive I mentioned above, I DO have a Academy B-50 in the stash…
Sorry to 'jack this thread… No it was not a PBY, it was a CG bit of graphic design in the shape of a Lockheed C-130, an aircraft that could barely carry a spare set of tracks for that tank, let alone get the damn thing through the door.
if you liked the clapton dvd youll love the new led zep dbl disk its just called led zeppelin and has the 1970 royal albert hall gig which imho is THE best live performance by anybody ever!
Yea brilliant me I was very confused when i asked the question, and i got my movies mixed up and im actually was looking for the plane in the Expendables. But I did find it. Its a HU-16 Albatross. Here’s a pic of it from the movie.

Now i would just like to find a model of one thats not in 1/144 scale. lol.
A good airplane movie is Iron Eagle. F-16’s!!! I think theirs a second one two just cant think of the name of it. And theirs the old stand by of Top Gun.
There’s several kits of Albatross’ out there in 1/72 and a couple in 1/48th…
As for Iron Eagle being a good movie, well… That’s certainly a matter of taste… The aerial footage was nice to watch, but overall, the story was dumber than a box a’ hammers, and REALLY put the USAF in a bad light (hence no DoD or Air Force cooperation for the producers. The Israelis didn’t mind thoough)… But, it was the 80’s and bad “one-man military” movies were the rule, rather than the exception… Only good thing I can say about Iron Eagle was that it wasn’t as bad as the sequels, each one of those was worse than the previous… All of them were worthy of showing up on Mystery Science Theater 3000 though… That said, and being that I’m a former Air Force Brat, I thought it rather entertaining and a fair ride for teenage Top Guns… Except that when it came out, I was no longer a teenager…
I’m waiting for the next one though… I hear that our beloved Colonel Chappy Sinclair, crackerjack fighter pilot and ultimate showman , will be back, this time battling evil super-intelligent shape-shifting N azi terrorist chimpanzees from Uranus bent on destroying the universe for their own financial gain…
You forgot to mention the evil multinational corporation running the terrorist chimpanzees, outwardly appearing tbenevolent, but secretly hell-bent on universal domination and run by a mysterious man whose image can be seen in the background on at least one photo of each president since 1870. [proplr] [clwn]
Another good one Hans! Destroying universe for their own financial gain…
I’m getting a little sick from watching Iron Eagle movies. The number after that determines the dose of stupidity in the movie…
Back to business, the Amodel company makes, I believe, more than one Albatross kit in 1/144. But who makes a model of this airplane in 1/72? When was it in production last time? Thanks in advance for the answer, have a nice day

Actually, it was the failed/cancelled M8 AGS (Armored Gun System) that the C-130 carried in the A-Team. The AGS was designed as a 105mm light tank for infantry units. It was designed to be small enough to carry in a C-130 cargo plane. The M1128 Stryker MGS (Mobile Gun System) is the successful evolution to the M8 AGS.
The Abrams is way too big and heavy to carry on a C-130.
M8 AGS.
M1128 Stryker MGS.
I just watched the Expendables in the cheap seat movie theaters… Pretty cool… lots of “man” stuff… !! Love the Albatross scenes…!
The whole movie was pretty good… some funny parts if your paying attention… [:)]
