I made the mistake of trying to mask a part that was’nt fully dry (it’s not my fault, really! I waited 3 days! lol) anyhow, the take took a small chunk of paint with it. How do I remedy that? considering the negative shape it left has a jagged edge. Is it as easy as sand and paint over? or will I still see a faint outline? any help would sure get me out of a bind! thanks
ooooo that sucks i had the same thing happen to me a week ago when i used scotch tape to mask acrillic paint that i forgot was acrilic and needless to say there was large parts of bareplasic everwere
so to answer on you problem i would say if your goning for thats “factory fresh” look i figure using a really light grit sandpaper and that should make it look like new
but…
if your going for that “broken in” look i bet you could make it look like the cammo has chipped of and do a bare alluminum underneath it
hope this helps!
ps waht model are you working on???
Sanding and repainting could do the trick. You could clear the whole panel, so it looks like weathering.
When painting a model, make sure there is no grease/dirt etc. on it. Because that will cause bad adhesion of the paint. Therefore clean your model before painting.
I would sand and repaint also !!! What type of paint and which brand of tape are you using ?
Ouch… sorry to hear about the paint coming up like that. Like the others have said, sanding and repainting is probably your only option.
Same thing has happened to me too, which on at least one occasion, prompted me to give it to the dog to play with!! [:D] Seriously though, that was a problem, until I started lightly rubbing the bare plastic with #0000 steel wool and washing it real good before applying the paint… also, after washing it, my bare fingers never touch the model again.
Take care,
Frank
