What’s Your Other Hobby

Well;

My other Hobby( main one) is scientific research into old Building Sites.( Some would call it ArmChair Archealogy.) With one difference. I look at old ways things were fastened together other than Nails or Mortar!

I have discovered, with other colleagues That Humans and other creatures that share this planet with us have certainly devised some interestingly simple and certainly dramatic ways of fastening their structures together( This does NOT include Corals)

Did you know there are over forty species that use Spit ( YES Spit! ) to hold their dwellings together! One of those species build homes that may weigh as much as a couple of hundred of pounds when complete for the neighbors and themselves!

Very nice collection!

I have several hobbies - I’m a bit of a gear head

I like camping/fishing/shooting/outdoors

Fiddle around with my guitars

I enjoy cooking and anything RC. I also have a Ham radio license since I was 13 but I’m not active WB6PJZ

Very interesting diversity of hobbies from you guys. That is one way to stay busy specially for us retired older dudes.

Patrick

I try to keep them as they were intended, original and well taken care of.

I have 3 more ten speeds and try to ride as much as I can. I try to make this a daily regimen but life gets in the way. My doctor wanted to put me on cholesterol medication 4 years ago till I said no sir, changed my eating habits and started cycling again. I went from a size 36 waist to a 34 and went from 187 lbs to 168lbs and I’m 65. Cycling is very healthy and fun soecially if one has good bike trails and good low traffic neiborhoods. Peddling these 57 lb bikes is quite a workout.

Hoo Yah

Fireams and specially ammo prices are ridiculous. Miss those days where You could purchase at a gun show a nice Colt 1911A1 for $300. Can’t afford the prices now.

Bill

Geez man your pictures just made me super hungry lol. The chicken looks yummy.

no, actually I have two more , woodworking and rc flying. Haven’t done Rc for a while and currently I’m working on a wood project for the wife. And by the way, she pushed me to get that 1941 Columbia bike that I just got in last week.

Oh man is that a 65 Pony???

I like Olivas and a bottle of Jameson Black Barrel[:D]

thanks

Thanks . All 62 pounds of steel are fun to peddle, actually very smooth and agile rider.

Green hell as Jackie Stewart used to call it. This is the longer 164 corners (or so) longer configuration? Very cool. If I can ask what car did you circuit the track in? I’ve been to many F1 tracks but never drove one.

Beautiful bikes! Love that styling from the 40s & 50s. My other hobbies are riding my Kawaski Voygeur motorcycle, working out, reading, and relaxing with my family. While I was teaching, modeling was the only hobby I could squeeze in my life but now that I’m retired I’m trying to “broaden my horizons”.

Yes. 65 GT - regret selling it. It was a real beauty, well optioned car with the Pony interior.

My first, main and now only hobby since I started in 1946 was and is model building of all types and sizes. But, I enjoy classical music and use it in the background when building models. Had quite a few various hobbies but had to quit them 1 by 1 due to health problems.

Stay Safe.

Suzuki Swift GTI. It was an early Friday evening the day before I came back to the States. Kind of cool to see all of the families setting up picnics on the hill-sides next to the track in Adenau. Right after that, had a 105 mile drive back to Ramstein…but that goes pretty quick on the autobahn. [H]

Honestly, politics and televised hockey.

I have no other hobbies, bored by all sports. So all I do is plastic armor and planes. Hey, it keeps me occuppied.

Gee friggin’ whiz, you guys have healthy hobbies like cycling and fishing. Me, um well…

Lots of reading science fiction and to a lesser extent fantasy and horror. Vintage stuff, the newer stuff just bores me.

Computer games, just started a massive Soviet campaign in a wargame (I can’t remember the friggin’ name of the game right now!)

And movies, I love monster movies as you can probably tell from my callsign. Again I really don’t like the modern stuff much but I love a good old '50s monster film. And I’m really getting into a lot of great Korean and Chinese films, their stuff is a lot more fun IMHO than the constant remakes Hollywood knocks out these days.

Well, most of my time is occupied with caring for my 22 yr. old special need son (Jarrod), but when time is available or when he can participate I like to play around with the following:

  • gun collecting and shooting (Jarrod), looking forward to the Keltec P50 when it arrives.

  • exercising at Planet Fitness, fitness walking (Jarrod).

  • playing percussion equipment at home, events, and studio (Jarrod).

  • motorcycling both one up and with sidecar (Jarrod).

  • diecast collecting mostly 1:18.

  • and of course scale modeling (sometimes Jarrod).

And yes, I am also retired for the last four years.

If I’m not building models…

Apperently, my only other hobby is" annoying" the crap out of my wife…

( something I have gotten really good at over the past 14 years …)

I’ll go along with little tittletimmy on this. It has been 20 years with my wife, but she knew what she was getting. HA! Her ex-boy friend was a model bulder too. Long story.

In the A.F. it used to be photography, models, and target shooting (to keep qualified for my job).

Later I helped each fencing at the local college, models, and some photography.

Now photography so I can sometimes post photos here, models, and target shooting to keep in practice and maintain profencency.
