which is the best primer to use on bare plastic?
I use Tamiya light grey primer from the can ! Realy great thing !!!
I use plain old automotive primer (grey preferably) I get at the local NAPA store - Much cheaper than modeling primer and just as good, if not better (just my opinion)
i picked up a can of the tamiya grey and i absolutly love it, goes on so smooth…now if i could only get pictures as i don’t have a camera, currently working on a italeri a10 thunderbolt II
another vote for Tamiya, the stuff does stink so make sure you have ventillation and better yet, use it while wearing filters.
I use Tamiya white but I don’t think the color matters. Tamiya is the best out there for plastic.Bear in mind it’s not cheap!

Automobile spray can primer for me too.
Usually the light gray for vehicles and white for figs.
10 oz. for .99¢ plus tax.
spray directly from the can or spray into cup then pour into airbrush cup.
yeah tamiya does stink, and it ain’t cheap but money really is not a problem…i absolutly love the stuff, just got to work on my skills more, but slowly i’m getting better and better…
I use the Wal-Mart house brand, works like a charm, especially if you heat the can in hot water for a couple of minutes.
Tamia is the best for me, the white primer works well for matt white aswell it works better than tamia flatt white
