Originally I said that I wasn’t going to spend my tax return(doubtful if I’ll get a return)on scale modeling but then a Buddy convinced me to pull the trigger on the new 1/200 Fletcher kit but sadly Squadron is sold out so it’s back to saving the return if I get one.
Unfortunately, our tax refund goes to paying bills. bleh…
Yikes.
I’m only doing the outside unit plus whatever needs to be done (coils, I think?) inside. I have two quotes for that level of work, one for $6K and one for $8K. If I did the heat exchanger, that would up the quotes to $9K and $12K. I’m going with the lowest quote. I don’t feel like I need to do a complete system. But yikes, $15K. Ouch.
I’m definitely planning to spend part of my 2025 tax refund on some model kits and accessories. I have my eye on the Bandai 1/72 scale Millennium Falcon because I’ve been wanting to tackle a Star Wars project for a while. I’m also considering a few aftermarket photoetch sets for my tank models to add more detail. As for supplies, I’ll probably stock up on paints and brushes. It’s always exciting to plan new projects with a little extra budget from tax season!
Didn’t get a refund, and my model buying days are on indefinite hiatus until the China tariffs are dropped. All the EvilBay sellers have a $200 or $203 shipping charge for Chinese stuff so my stash will have to suffice for the moment.
Actually getting one this year to my shock. Some of it’s going towards me and mu better half’s anniversary. Some of it’s going towards buying a lot of modeling supplies with the uncertainty with the tariffs mostly paint. The rear of it’s going to be saved.
Some of my refund is paying for the cruise we just booked. I live in paradise, SW Florida, so taking a vacation requires some thinking. We’re also looking to buy the piece of property next to my daughter and SIL. Thats in the beginning stages.
