I am not a wingy builder, but I did build a 1/72 scale p-51. That is my vote.[:)]
WWIISoldier,
I didn’t vote as my favorite scale is 1/32. My old fingers are not as nimble as they used to be and I like the larger parts to work with. Even then, the smaller of the larger parts can be difficult. Do you think they will ever come out with a 1/8 scale so I wont have problems" LOL
Richard
i voted 1/48 and that’s the predominate scale for me but,
1/200 & 1/44 airliners
1/20 Sf3D/Nitto stuff
1/72 WW II bombers & modern jets…
and i’m not sure what else i do…lol
I am sure they would as long as enough people want to fork out that kind of cash!!
1/32 for me , the other ones are to dificult to paint the cockpits
Ever since I started building RC planes, I’ve been partial to the larger 1/48 and 1/32 models.
I prefer 1/48 for a/c and 1/35 for armor
I’m a 1/72 kinda guy… primarily because I like building multi-engined bombers, and they’re huge in 1/48, and secondly: they’re cheaper. [:D]
I like 1/48 for the size and detail. I know 1/72 is better for conserving space, but I still prefer the larger 1/48 and 1/35 for helos.
for me right now the 1/48 scale is about right. really want to get into the 1/32 scale though.

1/24 and 1/16 or larger, although I only have 1 1/16
1/72 has been my scale of choice for 15 years.
I’m not a wingy thingy builder at the moment, but I have six kits waiting and four of them are 1/32. Of the three A/C I’ve ever built, two were 1/32. So by default, 1/32 is my choice.
Build mostly 1/48 but also build 1/72. Haven’t tried 1/32 because of the size & display issues, but some of the new releases are making them hard to resist.
1/48 it’s a scale that allows me to see and handle the parts easier then 1/72. space does limit how and what type of aircraft I build although I have a number of 1/48 multi engine bomber types, most of them are still in their boxes.
Prefer 72nd for price, size and to show how the real thing compares to armor, pt-boats and even sci-fi.
1/48th is just right although I might have to go to 72nd if I want to get into the larger bombers
I choose 72nd because of the wide selection of subjects and lack of display space.
I model 1/72 most of the time because I/ve been building in that scale since the late 50’s, early 60’s. Don’t have to have that large an area to work in, losts of variety, aftermarket items and you can display about 3 times as many 1/72 models as 1/48 models in a given space. (Although the 1/72 Northrop Flying Wings currently under construction get hung from the ceiling when I’m not working on them, and that’s where they’ll go when I get them finished)
You mean there actually is a scale other than 1/32? That must be what all those other boxes at the hobby store are! [:)]
I did see some 1/350 scale birds at the store though. I wouldn’t have eyes left if I tried one of them!
