I am looking to do an early mark, B.o.B era probably.
Cheers.
It would have to be the Tamiya MK I. Great kit!

for accuracy, get ultracast’s resin prop and spinner; otherwise great kit.
The Tamiya Spit Mk I is the best by far. Lots of AM detail sets & decals if you want to spiff it up, but it builds intoa very nice model OOB.

I’m not sure if ICM’s 1/48 Spitfire range covers early marks, but if it does, look no further. You won’t find better, more complete Spit kits in 1/48 on the market today.
They come with things you usually have to go aftermarket for, come at a fraction of the price of Tamiya and easily hold their own against Tamiya in detail.
The ICM Spit kits don’t cover the early marks. The Tamiya Mk I & Revell Mk II are the only early spits I can think of in 1/48. You could back-date a Hasegawa or Tamiya Mk V, but why bother ?

O.K. A shame though considering how well ICM covered the later marks.
If you want a later mark of Spit, I still recomend the ICM kits hands down.
If you want a later mark, Academy makes a really nice Mk XIVe…
mk 1: Tamiya + cutting edge
mk 5: Hasegawa
mk IX: Icm
mk x and up: ???
cheers,
I think i will go with the tamiya mark I or II.
