what is the best match for NATO green? - pretty good match made

I’m looking for a green to match this…

this is a freshly painted Bradley. (I’m the one standing). I remember the paint bucket saying “forest green”

What model paint would match this? MM “Euro 1 Green”?

Id use olive drab dulled with some white or buff. I use tamiya paints so yeah, thats what id do with them.

The color is actually Forest Green, FS#34127. Testors Model Master has it in their enamel line.

Of course if you go acrylic…there is Tamiya NATO Green, PolyScale NATO Green and MM Acryl Forest Green

I think FS#34079 is a better match. That was the base color for most of the MERDC schemes before the NATO camo came in to being.

Gino - I have to agree with Stick. If you are looking for the MERDC colors and the matching model paints along with the correct FS numbers look here.

Both colors are called Forest Green but are different FS numbers

If you are trying to match up any FS number to a model paint, use this internet program

This old gas passer lived MERDC…[:O]

I am sure the colors are close…as with all the generations of brothers, we live with shades of green!!

CB1,

I would recomend Tamiya acrylics NATO Black as a preshade & darkener, Olive green as a base, and Tamiya Buff or Tamiya Dark Yellow as a lightener. I hope this has been helpfull. I look forward to seeing this project here on F.S.M.

excellent thoughts and suggestions! Thanks!

As soon as it is finished I’ll post it up.

well I mixed some paint up to come up with what I think is a decent match.

some dark green (b52) FS34096 mixed with some dark green FS34079 with a couple of “drops” of SAC bomber tan FS 34201. Thinned it out and sprayed it on. Looks pretty close.

here it is, the kit is the Tamiya M2 that is 90% OOB with some PE grills and a brass barrel. not quite 100% finished, I still have to touch up some paint and add the bumber numbers.

I painted according to my memory and the pictures I took. This is representing the Bradley that I drove/gunned in Germany Jan 86 to Jun 87. We just repainted the vehicle to put on display at a family day event. (see original post, the paint was still tacky when that picture was taken)

Thanks for the advice on colors!

The color looks good to me. Good job on the M2.

Nice…I like it…it is not often you have that “clean” look!!

Motor pool condition! Now get some drip pans under that track![;)]

LOL…it is a OOB WR Build…Out of Box, Wash Rack Build!..

The paint job looks great! The only thing I would consider would be to darken that muzzle break a little bit. It’s kinda shiny. That’s just my own opinion though.

Bradleys are the shizzle!! [:D[

thanks for the replies guys! I have to say, after the family day event that fresh paint job didn’t last as we went out to the field at “area mud” in Schweinfurt the next week. 3 days of mud and 3 hours later on the wash rack took all the “fresh” out of that paint job. LOL
