What is it that you look for in buying a armor kit?

As for me,I was wondering why most or so wonder what a certain kit is going to be like.I personailly buy them all, different makes and manufactures. It does not make a difference to me due to the challage of it all.I like to scratch bluild alot so any kit will do.I find that most manufactures leave a lot out and this is good.I can then scratch bluild parts and insides to some and have a lot of fun with them.My Bishop that I did a year ago was fun project to do,also was the add on armor I did for the leapord bluild.Digger

It looks cool…

Subject matter, accuracy, and value i.e PE, AM, indy tracks, etc. Not too concerned of brand or price as long as the previous 3 ctiterias are met.

must be of good quality plastic injection
PE or accesories
Price
kind of tracks
dont buy the latest model ( allways you can get it 30% less when the fever for the model is down )
are there rare resin conversions for it at the market
actually with more philosophy im not buying models ( aprox 400 waiting are enough) but yes the accesories as tracks
actually working many scratch and still in the railroad fever ( models on rails )

dont buy with panic

I’ve been looking at the “high quality” kits lately. While I do have a fondness for taking an old tool kit and bringing it up to modern standards, nothing beats a superbly fitting kit by Tristar, Fine Molds, Tasca, or newer Tamiya.

These finely tooled, well engineered kits fall together, many times no filler is required. They make modeling building a joy.

the subject matter and then the make

Well, rarity of subject matter!

If i have the opportunity to learn the specs of a piece of equipment that is not commonly found in kit for it interests me greatly…example, a Zsu-57-2 would be a dream! Also finding items in 1:72-1:76 is a challenge that is fun for me…

Much thanks…

first subject, then accuracy, then lack of injectorpin marks in hard to reach spaces (like on the tamiya wespe), accessories, and finally price.

I feel comfortable buying modern Tamiya and Dragon kits, and I’ll go to other companies for the hard to find stuff (like Emhar for WWI subjects). However, I like to consult the Finescale Forums before I make a purchase. I find that any kit I’d consider has already been discussed by someone on this forum. In short, I see what ya’ll think about a kit before I buy it.

Subject, scale and manufactorer, will use the forum for lesser known companies

Agree with several others…

  1. Scale - I only buy 1/35 scale kits.
  2. Subject - I’ll buy even a substandard kit if it’s a subject I really want.
  3. Manufacturer - With two kits of the same subject, the better manufactured kit wins.
  4. Price - If there are multiple quality kits, the lowest priced kit usually wins.

i go for the cheapies then i correct the problems on a value basis spending extra time correcting the model just adds to not having to by a new model sooner because yor not finsihed with the old one yet, there by having created a very low cost per building hour ratio.

Preferably plastic, accessories are nice, things i can add on, change e.t.c. If it’s British its a big plus point as well

I buy styrene kits only. Resin, IMHO, is just not worth it. I’d probably have more fun scratchbuilding the whole thing, than paying an arm and a let. Personally, I just get a kit of a subject that I like and want to build. It’s really the only consideration I have.

mold details, subject matter, cost effectiveness (aka goodies included). since to me the prices on models per kit in quite affordable i don’t think price is that much of concern to me. then hope to god that it’s accurate enough based on thirdparty reviews.
