What is best type of glue for resin models?

I have purchased a resin model of of a C-124 from AniGrand. This is my first time working with a resin model. What is the best type of glue to use on resin ? I had to words of advice from a local modeler one to use expoxy resin and another to use regular superglue. I found that regualr plastic cement does not work. Thanks for any suggestions

Hi, I’ve always used CA (super glue) for this material. A+B epoxy will work also. Then hobby putties and fillers are compatible for seem filling.

2 part epoxy will give you a superior bond to superglue. Just get the 5 minute stuff and you’re good to go.

for the larger heavier pieces i used th e5 min epoxy but for the smaller pieces i use Wave Black CA i just love the stuff. It sands great. For canopies i used futute to set them in place.

No, no, no, you’re ALL wrong. Arc welding is the only sure way to join resin parts.

Kidding! Since I build mostly 1/700 scale ships, I use several varieties of CA (super glue), none of which you can usually get at the local department or big box store. Some super glues are touted as “gap filling,” meaning they have more of a gel quality and a slower drying time, up to 45 seconds or so. The thinner super glues will flow into and around gaps and holes, and really do bond things instantly. So I usually don’t use that kind.

The only thing about using super glue to fill a gap, do not let it dry completely. It’ll be a lot harder than the surrounding plastic, and it will be very, very unpleasant to try and smooth it down. Don’t ask me how I know that, just accept it as fact.
