I have no idea what it is, but there seem to be all types of Aircraft from around the world that participate in these (this)?? Is it a yearly thing? A worldly thing?? What is it’s signifigance?? Thanks for ignoring my ignorance!!!
There are a number of squadrons in various airforces around the world which have tigers or tiger heads as their unit emblem, and sometimes they paint odd aircraft in tiger striped schemes too. It is these units which attend so called “Tiger Meets” I believe, or at least, that was how it got started. Whether it now includes other stuff too I couldn’t tell you. Not really my scene this modern stuff. The period I model a tiger meet was having an uncomfortable encounter with a big irate cat after being shot down in the jungle!!!
Hey kik,
Its where Tigers meet silly[:p][:p]. Just kidding really[;)]. Mike V posted a great site that will basically explain or at least give ya an idea.
Flaps up,Mike
Ah, the NATO Tigers… A favorite subject of mine…
And thousands of others, no doubt!
One of my favorite aspects of the Tiger Meets, strangely enough, is the variety of unit hack vehicles that get painted up in Tiger colors, and the wacky atmosphere that normally goes along.
Usually it’s the host unit that has a Tiger hack present at each meet, but sometimes other units will bring theirs along. My favorite vehicle wasn’t a Tiger hack, really, but rather the guide van (‘follow me’ vehicle) that the Belgians used in 1985 when they hosted at Kleine-Brogel. I’ll try and scan an image if I can…

The link MikeV gave is actually for a relatively new event called the Tiger Meet of the Americas. The idea is the same, only it’s hosted in North America. Here’s a link to another site covering the 2003 TMOTA:

I’d also check out the rest of Phillipe’s site, it’s one of the finest I’ve come across and a personal fave…
I’ve got some other links to sites of years past, but these should keep anyone occupied for a while. I will provide one last link, though. This is a page from FB-111.net:

Fade to Black…
Whew…thanks Blackwolf, that took me a while to go through, but I think I got it down. I must’ve saved hundreds of pics on that one!!! I can see a Tiger Meet Group Bild in the future!!!
awesome pics blackwolf. kind of makes me want to do a ww2 prop job with a full tiger camo scheme.

I finished up a 1:48th scale F-16 in the 1998 Tiger 31 FA-71 scheme. It really stands out from all the grey. Everybody thought it was fake or fantasy, So I always bring along photos. I’m surprised that the proto guys don’t know more about Tiger schemes. Seem like it would be an exciting subject.
I could see it now… 2021, Tiger meets for modelers. [:D] Ahh…
Midnight…that’s not a bad ideal for a model contest theme. Something different.
