What- How Big is Your parts Box??

Here’s one no one ever seems to ask.

What is the size of your parts Box? Oh, I know that it can’t be just one container. How many Models could you build out of it? Between Trains and R.C.stuff and former collection of parts for Client models. Parts are not a problem. Finding a place for them, now that is the problem. Probably, two large plastic storage containers with wheels–The Deep ones .NOT the under Bed type!

So,What is yours?

I have three, one each for planes, cars, and ships. Each is a box 11 by 4 by 4, as part of a shelf unit with 24 such “boxes” (open top that slide into niche in main unit) Other drawers are for supplies (plastic, wood, metal, gears, motors, etc).

I have a 9x11x18 tackle box that opens up with 5 large segmented drawers and the open bottom 1/2 of the box for small parts from planes, ships and armor. Weighs a ton, need two hands to lift.

For car parts it’s a 6x12x10 metal cabinet with 25 clear drawers. Sorted engines, headers, front axles, rears, headlights, tail lights etc.

For car bodies, fuselages and other larger parts it’s a printer paper box.

Plus a few assorted clear plastic food containers with odd sized parts.

After 75-1/2 years of building all types of models, spare parts seem to pile up. I did do a little sorting and thinning before we moved here about 5 years ago. Scattered quite a bit of stuff to the members of the club but lots left.

Stay Safe.

Yes,it’s just one box,mostly tracks,tools,decals,missles and such.

Just like I don’t need to have hundreds of kits in the stash that will never be built,I don’t need to hoard dozens of boxes of parts I won’t use,I barely use anything from this one.sometimes I’m happy to provide a piece to a fellow modeler who mentions on a forum that he needs something
