what do you mean by "brail scale"?

i’m assuming this is 1/72? just wondering as i see this term thrown around on here quite often. later.

I’ve seen posters refer to both 1/72 & 1/32 as Braille scale. Armor guys seem to refer to 1/72 as Braille scale, but I’ve seen some posts refering to 1/32 aircraft as well. I get the meaning, but not sure which is the “preffered” reference.

i think the prefered is 1/72. mostly it refers to the tiny size of the parts, for 1/72, this refers to everything on the it, for 1/32, its for the really tiny details that are added in that larger size

I thought Braille scale was a variation on the observation that 1/48 (or better yet, 1/32) was for guys with thick fingers, as in the parts are big enough that a blind man could put it together. But then going ballistic means going off (like a rocket or an explosion) to some people; becoming unguided (instead of tracking to the target) to others; was launched, didn’t light off and fell to earth like a dead weight to a few; or launched, lit off, tracked, and ran out of fuel and fell to earth without hitting anything…

Bingo !
Only recently and on the net have I heard it reversed to mean 1/72 by a few. It’s a playful crack at those who can’t or chose not to build small scale and has been for well over 25 years.[;)]

I think brail-scale has a few different meanings according to the modelling genre:

Military 1/72 Tanks and so on which are small and you work mostly by feel.
Aircraft 1/48 and above.

well, that gives me a start anyway!!LOL you see, i’ve noticed braille scale mentioned in both 1/72 and 1/32 A/C forums. ya’ll have certainly cleared matters up. later.

I heard 1/72 referred to as “bug scale” a few weeks ago. Seems the average sized cockroach is the same size as a pilot of a 1/72 scale model.

Heh…not here. A cockroach around here would make a 1/32 scale pilot run. I’m full scale and they make me run!! [:I]
