This idea came from BOB where a handpicked few made a nightly forage into enemy territory to snatch and grab a possible source of information. In this version the transport vehicle is a CCKW 353 6x6 from Heller and the water is only a creek with a very nice footbridge to cross. Objective.

it looks great sasd! I really like the footbridge and creek. what is the guy standing next to the truck doing, reloading? what figures did you use?
You always manage to cram so much into a small space, and it pays off in spades. Truck looks great, the bridge and figs are well done too, very good job Russ.
Nice dio, I still dont understand how the troops got out of the truck and how the truck got there though[%-)]
Thanks for the comments guys,TTM,I probably couldve used a beep here but I
ve had this truck hanging around for quite a few years now so figured lets use it! Guess you could rationalize that the truck pulled in from the backside, ahead enough for the troops to bail out and then backed it up to park(why the driver would do that I don
t know),or you could simply, not think of that at all, lol!
I sort of interpreted it as an abandoned truck that just happened to be there as the troops were fighting…
Cool 5150,never thought of that one! Guess the best way is to interpet it in your own way, lol, who knows, lol, maybe they`re selling icecream sandwichs on the other side of the truck too LOL!
Oh yeah, the soldier close to the truck is kind of making sure his weapon is working
cause hes next in line to give
er across that footybridge! Ahhhh, heros,ya gotta love em!
looks great. What did you use for the water?
Great work as always Sasd. I really like the way you dry-brush your builds.
How many passes do you make?
I had originally done the water a soupy yellow ochre but after a little convincing from the lads I changed the colour to a nice twotone green. So what I did was I mark out the creek right on the base, pour straight from the bottle the colour you want to use(in my case it`s acrylics)onto the base and let dry. You get a nice solid covering and if you want a moving creek thin brush in a light colour whilst it is still wet to get movement. After completly dry pour on a nice thick even layer of miracle podge and let dry. It will be cloudy at first but drys clear. Oh,before you add the podge you can with a little artistic value edge the creek with a white or buff to represent foam, defines the shore edge a bit.
Softskin?? Provocative title and nice diorama. Do you ever sleep Mr. SASD?
Dan
AWESOME, and sasd u have to tell me how u amde that water color and effect, see im makin a vietnam dio next and i need all the help i can get for doing water, thanks a bunch!

Really like this one Sasd, l lota stuff going on.
P.S What kind of ice cream did you use?
Thad
Looks awesome
Looks great. Another nice dio!
Dry brushing, lets see,how many passes, once! The water was done by a straight pour from the bottle,a light colour,a dark colour on top, edge with white and pour on the miracle podge. ......the ice cream being served would probably be fudge ripple without nuts, lol! ...and no I don
t sleep that much, that way you can get lots done!!
…here are a couple more shots of the water!
…its not realy hard to do,I
m quite leary about doing water to.
Looks really well done. Nice to see something other than a tank for a main vehicle in a dio for a change.
Thanks HastyP,ya know I had reservations when I was putting this one together, never had that feeling before but alls well,I`m happy with the way it turned out. It is alot harder to base a story around a support vehicle rather than an MBT!
