What Did You do on Your Work Bench Today

I’m sensing you’re a car guy..

Just a little bit. HAHA

I’m getting ready to start painting the Type 3.

The commander still needs a bit of work.

Went to town with the Abteilung oils on my Junkers Ju88A-1. First time using these oils for both exhaust stains, oil stains, and dot filtering. It’s all drying right now, but sometime over the weekend I expect to be able to get back out to the bench to inspect the work that I did tonight and make any modifications or additions to the weathering that I need to.

I purchased the airbrush at my local HobbyTown as part of a combo package from Spaz Stix (https://spazstix.com/). The company does have good online support and have component parts available for purchase, except for the one part I need, of course. Customer support responded quickly and informed me they have the missing part on backorder but do not yet have a date when it will be in stock. The missing part was not depicted on what otherwise was a good parts diagram that came with the brush, in fact the only part not depicted. Not sure why that is. I did not ask where they source their brush, it is a gravity fed double action airbrush. I’ve taken a cursory look online to see if I couild identify the manufacturer.

I would be interested in what airbrushes folks recommend?

@MarineGen3 that’s a great topic. I wonder if it’s been created yet? I wouldn’t want to hijack the thread with that question but I’d be happy to discuss on a separate thread.

My workbench sits waiting for me to finish the Beaufort while I deal with life. Someday soon I will get back to it.

No intent to hijack this thread :slightly_smiling_face: So in keeping with the primary topic, I spent hours at the workbench painting Gold Leaf onto the detailed decorations on my current Airfix Royal Sovereign project. For more on this, I’ll continue on the project build page. Cheers.

No worries! I did find that other topic and resurrect it…

The workbench. A bit tight on space which has me often taking over one end of the ping pong table!

Nice! Is your compressor bolted to the bench?

No. Compressor sits on a piece of no-slip material. It has suction cups for feet which provides a solid footprint to keep it in place.

Nearly there with the pirate airship, but these photos reminded me I need to apply some wash to the side airbags as well to match the main one…

Proud to say I sat down for about 2 hrs and made some progress. Haven’t touched it in months.

The metal finish turned out great. I really like the variations in tones and panels. Super nice build.

I looked at my model of the AC-130 and said it’s taking up too much of my desk that I can’t start my next project. I can’t paint anything right now as my garage is total mess. I need to clean it so I can get my spray booth back online. LOL…

Currently working on today and the next few days “painting” the long white/yellow flight deck landing lines on my carrier. For reasons which would take too long to explain, I’m not using an airbrush nor am I spray can painting the lines nor am I hand brushing them. Instead, I am using what’s called Sharpie Creative paint markers that I found at a store. It does take multiple “passes/coats” of the paint marker to “draw” the lines on the deck. But so far, the markers are working out fairly well for me.
