That’s a pretty dramatic improvement for only your second attempt! Painting camouflage like that on a figure looks incredibly difficult, and the newer one looks very convincing.
Figure painting is something I’ve always found intimidating, so I’m impressed. Really nice work!

Ah, TS-29—that explains the nice sheen on those seats. It really does look like period vinyl.
Good luck with the Bare-Metal Foil! I have some myself, but I’ve never actually tried using it, so I’ll be interested to see how it goes.
We had a yellow Barracuda when I was a kid, so I’m especially looking forward to seeing your rendition come together.

But I am not that experienced to design my own files … I actually bought it at Cults3D
Since I bought my resin printer four years ago it became a fantastic tool I never want to miss again. I get the file once and print as many as I want as often as I want in any scale I want - as long as I do not sell the prints it is completely up to me! Especially figures and all kinds of eqipment for dioramas, but also tank tracks, ejection seats and ordnance - just to name a few. Another example is this seat for my Italeri (Esci) Fiat G.91
Really a gamechanger for me - only the size of the build plate is the limit!

Faces on figures is probably one of the most challenging aspects in painting out there. Just a suggestion, but go back with your flesh color and narrow them down from the top and bottom of what you have now.
I am no master or expert at it on my own. But eyes outdoors tend to be much more narrow due to daylight.

Really nice job on the weathering. You nailed that dirty, beat-up look R2-D2 has in the movies. It really looks the part. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the diorama!

I’ve been following along with this because figure painting hasn’t been easy for me, especially faces. I’ve actually gotten to the point where I’ve started avoiding figures because of it. I’d really like to get better at them, so thanks for the advice!

Face painting is not easy… at least not in my experience. I have to put more effort into it for less consistent results than in any other area of the hobby. But the main thing is do not give up. Occasionally you’ll surprise yourself with a good one.

A pretty satisfying milestone at the workbench this weekend. I finally finished all of the decals and stencils on the upper surfaces of the F-4EJ Kai.
I haven’t counted them all, and at this point I’m not sure I want to. 
But after somewhere around 20 hours of decal work, it’s pretty satisfying to finally be able to turn the airplane over and say the entire top is done.
There’s still plenty to do underneath, plus a few small decals on the canopy and stabilizers, and then I can finally start bringing everything together with weathering and the final finish.
It’s been a long process, but seeing it at this stage makes all those tiny stencils feel worth it.

You have infinite patience! All those small decals! I’m ashamed to admit, that when it comes to those, I tend to do some of them.

I remember building the Dragon 1/72 Saturn V and used Rick Sternbach’s aftermarket decals. There were 92 decals on the CSM alone!

I’m beginning to question whether it’s patience or just stubbornness. Once I got this far, I couldn’t bring myself to start leaving them off.
At one point I realized I’d accidentally thrown away a tiny piece of decal paper, maybe 1/4" square, that still had two stencils on it. I actually debated whether I could just live without them…and then found myself digging through the garbage until I found it.
I’m pretty sure I’ve spent more time putting decals on this airplane than I’ve spent building some entire models.
I built that kit as a kid! I honestly don’t remember whether I put all the decals on it back then or not, but I remember having a lot of fun building it.
I’ve been watching for one of the Hobby Lobby 40% off sales because I heard they sometimes have the Saturn V in stock, and I’d like to build it again after all these years.
I finished up a real simple Tamiya palate cleansing build,a lend lease M-3 Stuart,I used Mission Model OD with some AK washes,I replaced the provided string for the tow cable with thin wire.
Just not happy that the one decal silvered a little.
