How do you finish the metal gear? I have some that came with the kit and they need a lot of finishing work that I have no idea how to do with metal.
Your paint job looks excellent!
I cleaned up the seams with an exacto then primed with tamiya grey primer and shot gloss white over them. They are very malleable and I actually broke part of one of the axles pulling the wheel off - very soft. Fortunately I had another set. I don’t like them and would rather have the injection molded parts but that isn’t an option with this kit so I’m powering through. I’ll post more pics as I work through the complex assembly of these F-18 gear.

Tamiya 1:35 155MM M40 is complete. Very nice detail on the kit, especially the figures, and I like how it turned out a lot.

Beautifully done! I had no idea it took 7-8 guys to run that kind of gun! The story telling is excellent.
I’ve been asked to judge at an IPMS contest, and they want to put me on an armor (which I know little about) team so I’m studying up on the genre, and yours looks immaculate from these photos.

My latest update on this P-47 project…
I’ve added more weathering such as exhaust and gunpowder stains, dirt stains onto the tires and areas on the airframe that would get such stains kicked up by the tires… I also glued the navigation, ID, and landing light in place, removed the canopy masking… and added a bit of bare metal wear in appropriate areas…
Just about done now… got a busy next few days ahead with family stuff, so it will hopefully be wrapped up by the end of the weekend.

Really nice work. I especially like the weathering—you’ve got enough exhaust, grime and wear to make it look like an airplane that’s actually been used without overdoing it. Lots of great little details throughout. This one is really coming together beautifully.
