What Did You do on Your Work Bench Today

I wouldn’t do anything else because they look fine to me. Are you happy with them?

Well…it doesn’t look anything like the real thing. I’ve got some nail detailing brushes from Amazon that i might be able to use…I’ll try it in an inconspicuous area and see.

Thanks guys…it was an enjoyable build to be sure!

Currently working on building/painting a few 1/350 scale E-2C Hawkeye aircraft for my model aircraft carrier. Working on coloring the windows with these ink pens. I find them to be really useful for fine details.

Today I painted a bunch of things steel, aluminum and magnesium.

My Aurora Viking Long ship is done except for the sail so I’m trying Bob’s suggestion and using spray starch to make the sail look like it’s billowing. The sail is made out of some type of vinyl and I think that is hampering its ability to maintain a curved shape. Coat #3 was just applied. If nothing else, the sail sure smells good.

Finished a few 1/350 scale E-2C Hawkeye aircraft last night. Still needs decals which will be added later.

After much too long I finished my Monogram AT-6 Texan 1/48 scale. I’ve had this kit since my stash was young. I’ve been working around it for several years but finally got serious and decided to get it done. Very friendly kit that went together well, but gee whiz I hate a greenhouse cockpit. Decals are original 1979 issue. Thin but strong.

Nice, what did you use for the NMF

Nice job. I’m going to have to try another one of these. I did one as a boy and had a pretty bad failure on one last year. I really want one for my trainer collection. Yours looks great.

Ahoy Tojo72. My goto NMF lately is Tamiya Gloss Aluminum Lacquer LP-70. It airbrushes well and gives a durable finish. Depending on the look I want, I’ll give it a finish coat of Microscale Micro Satin, which is what I used on this model or Tamiya Clear lacquer LP-9. I have Tamiya Clear Semi Gloss lacquer LP-24 and Clear Flat lacquer LP-23 that I haven’t had the opportunity to use yet. I don’t build as fast as I’d like to.

Ahoy K-dog. Yes. I’m not always happy with how some builds turn out either. This one was better than most. Thank you.

That Texan turned out amazing. Your natural metal finish is beautiful. Once again, I’ll say that some of these “vintage” kits can turn out spectacular in the hands of a master builder.
