What Company consistantly makes the best plastic models?

Hello,

I’m new to modeling and was wondering what company makes the best plastic models for the items listed below. I know that this is somewhat of an opinion based question but I would like to start spending my money on quality models. I recently purchased 5 kits from megahobby that were manufactured by revell and they all have fit and detail problems. Although they will give me much needed practice, I would like to spend my time making something that looks realistic and that I’m proud to show to others. Cost is not an issue

Thank you,
Danny

Oh Yea …and a f-22 Raptor…I love this new jet!!

X-15 MPM (1/72), Special Hobby (1/48), XB-70 AMT, P-51, H-1 ? don;t know maybe there’s a vac kit?, SR-71 testors Italeri (reasonbly good) U-2 Testors/Italeri, S-3 1/72 Hasegawa (reissued by Revell) 1/48 esci/italeri, F-22 there is no accurate kit.

Of all these kits, the P-51 by Tamiya is very good, the others ones are reasonble. As for the X-15, it’s short run so quite difficult.

For the best anwsers for these kind ofquestions, try the aircraft forum.

And, off course, [#welcome] to the forum

Welcome from me as well.
My call would be both Tamiya and Fujimi BUT I stay mostly with cars and some aircraft so other companies may excel in areas I have no experience with.

Cheers , Pete.

Welcome!
Out of the aircraft you listed the only one that I have built myself is the P-51. The best kit for this subject is the tamiyas kit in 1/48 scale. Its a quality mould and there are no fit problems at all, plus it has a good level of detail. You won’t go far wrong with that one.

hope this helps,

Darren.

For a D variant, yes. For an A,B, or C, buy the Accurate Miniatures one.

Academy has a good SR-71 in both 1/72 and 1/48.

Testors and Italeri make the only U-2s.

Hasegawa?

Revell just reissued the X15, less than $8 at Walmart.

Ditto on the Accurate Miniatures for the P-51A- I’ve got that kit. They also have the recon version (F6B) and a P-51B that I’d bet is pretty nice too.
