What colour wash?

I’m going to use a chalk wash on a wespe base coated dark yellow, but am not sure what colour to use, dark grey, tan, brown or something else?

I’m thinking I might get myself a junk kit for experimenting, something truely cheap and nasty. [:D]

id use a brown. but try it out and see which one you like on a piece of scrap plastic…

I’m currently weathering a Tamiya Wespe. I used a oil-based wash of raw umber. The oil paints are Grumbacher. The thinner I used is odorless mineral spirits. I sprayed Tamiya acrylic’s as the base colors, dark yellow with dark green blotches. Then I oversprayed it all with a clear acrylic lacquer. Then put the oil-based wash over that. Now I have sprayed Testor’s Dull-cote, thinned 50/50 with lacquer thinner. Have added paint chips of raw umber oil paint applied with the end of a round toothpick, well actually numerous toothpicks. I did a little dry-brushing. Have just soaked the Friul tracks in Blacken It and will later add some pigments to finish off the weathering process. This is a long answer to your wash question. Hope I haven’t confused you along the way!

That sounds excellent, I’d like to see the pics.

I normally use a black wash on green or gray base coats and burnt umber on yellow and sand base coats.
