I’m working on Hasegawa’s F-104 “Bavaria” and it calls for the color “Sky” to be on the lower portion of the nosecone. When I went to the LHS I found Tamiya makes a color called “Sky” (XF-21) but it is a fairly light mint green. Is this correct? The box art kind of looks like it might be a light green but definately appears to be almost white as opposed to the more green color of the Tamiya paint.
And if anyone that has built this model has colors to recommend for painting the body that would be great!

As Tom said, it depends a lot on the air force, and even the time period. Certainly in my paint collection (if memory serves), I have 2 different ‘Sky’, one being RAF, and the other one, er, I can’t remember. However, even the professionals get it wrong. I believe it was the ‘Sky’ colour that was the wrong colour applied to the Hawker Furies built for Canada, causing the RCAF to fly someone over to Hawker’s with a paint chip, to show what they actually wanted, after the first production batches had been delivered
