what a diference a detail kit makes, jeep with 50 cal, and need help with a hanomag ammo carrier.

i went to my lhs today got a 1/35 detail kit, 1/72 universal carrier for the common wealth gb, and stuff for mad allied day. i got academy’s allied and german afv accessories, with it came a 50 cal, so i took the canvas off of my jeep, put the railings on, glued a spur to the jeep, the 50 cal to the spur, added some 50 cal ammo boxes and used the guy who had the recoiless rifle for the gunner and here it is: honsest comments please, i never had a reference pic, so i dont know how it should look.

my churchill now:

the set also came with alot of german ammo cases and ammo, so i thought it would be a good idea to change my 251/1 hanomag to a ammo carrying one. but i read somwhere that in the later years of the war all ammo carrying 251s were 252/9s, were any 252/1s?

That kit adds alot of detail.
I know for sure that the 251/1 was used as an ammo carrier, only it is not a 251/1. A 251/1 is a troop carier, the ammo carrier is a 251/4.

here is a pic of one

sorry I couldnt be of more help.

One suggestion I’d make, if you have the necessary resources, is to drill out the barrel on the .50 cal. You can use a pin vise or a Dremel with the smallest bit to achieve it as a finishing touch to that very nice detail kit.

i have only used half of the allied details, and none of he german ones yet, i think it was worth the $10-$12 (cant remember) that i paid for it. i see that the ammo carryes never had a mg, did any have them? did any 251s ever pull a pak 40?

i’m not sure if i will try drilling the barrel, i’m afraid i might breack it, or drill off centered.

i started painting some of it today, got alot more to do.

1 of the 251/4’s that I saw had a forward MG 42. And yes they would have towed a PAK 40 or any other heavy gun. these vehicle were used in Panzer divisions to supply tanks with ammo and artillery divisions to do the same. For more info try searching on google and google images. There is a little bit of info out there.

Its that a cat in the trailer? nice touch.

One thing I see is looks like a seam on the drivers arm that you could scrap off with the edge of a blade.

What kit is the jeep?

the kit is an iterali (sp?) it is a puppy in the trailer that came with tamiya’s livestock kit. i never seen that seem until now, so i will try to fix that, i painted the details today and will post pics soon.
