I have heard through the rumour mill that this show was cancelled, but I can not find any factual information to back it up.
Any one out there know for sure? This is a great show and I look forward to attending it each year. So let me know if you can.

I wanted to compete this year, do you have to be a IPMS member? Or is it open to everyone?
every year i’ve gone it’s been open to everyone, i heard it was canceled also.
That sucks, I missed it for the last 2 years, this year I was planning to go…

I checked the website of the Guelph Modellers and I am sad to report that their calendar shows WELLCOME XI - CANCELLED.
As far as IPMS membership and shows, I have never run into that yet. The show my club is hosting on 25 Feb is open to anyone. Check the details www.warplane.com under coming events.

Wow, that sucks to hear. It was a fun little show. I did not go last year, but went the year before that, and really enjoyed it. I wonder how come they cancelled it. Anyone know?

At our club meeting last night we were told the reason for the cancellation was
a. The Legion building that was used to host the show had been sold
b. A new venue to host it at could not be found in time
c. Two of the hosting members would not be available for the show
d. And sadly the proximity of Heritagecon (Our Club’s show)
I hope that the fact our club is hosting a show 25 February was not a major factor. I personally feel that if there were more shows that it only betters the hobby. I try and attend every show I can get to. I will miss WELLCOME it was a great show. It was the first I ever entered into and the first I ever won at.

I love attending shows too but a reality is that vendors and hosting clubs can end up being the real losers. If two shows in proximity by date and location dillute the attendance of each other, you get vendors who don’t sell as much and clubs missing budget/profit projections. And you may risk having two poor or mediocre shows rather than one big and nice one.

We had a club meeting last night at the museum and the entry forms were just being cut. If you were to email the President of the club his email is on the info sheet at www.warplane.com under the events tabs. Tony Hayes is the man who can help you with that. There is also a listing of the categories for entry.
You should definitely enter your ARROW. The trophy for Best Prop and Best Jet were on display last night. They are each handcrafted by the museum. The Best Prop is a solid wood hand carved propeller in miniature mounted to a base, with an RCAF clock salvaged from a Rolls Royce Aircraft! The best Jet is a piece of the Turbo Fan (rumoured to be from an Arrow engine…lol… but more than likely a CF-104 engine) mounted on a wood base. Nice one of a kind pieces for the winner.

Do you really think the Arrow will do well against other contestants? Remember I have to enter into adults (17 now), I was going to bring my F-16:D

Remember this is the first show for our club. And it all depends on the number of entries in each category. Why not bring both. You can only try. Even if you don’t win. You still get to showcase your work to other modellers.
