I know this question has been asked a thousand times but what is the sequence of applications after my second coat of humbrol enamel 155 olive drab on the upper surface of my academy 1/72 b17f. I would like to expose the panel detail and highlight the exhaust/ oil trails. I have used future or pledge one go as it is called in oz to set the decals on previous models is this a sound practice?
Next step in my method would be a coat of future, decals, more future, then I use chinese black ink mixed with water as a wash to highlite the details, then dry brush, the powders, then I seal it with dullcoat. Then it usually goes in the trash can cause I hate it… [;)] JK
I would put any pastels/powders on very last (even after final clear coat). They tend to disappear when you cover them with a clear coat. Don’t worry, they adhere pretty well to the finish. If you don’t handle the model excessively, they will stay on.
You can just mix water with the ink with a drop of dish detergent (helps the mix flow). I use Model Masters flat coat. You have to airbrush it on. Works well for me. The flat is REAL flat, so I mix a little semi-gloss with it. Usually 1 part flat to 2 parts semi gloss.
