WEATHERING IN CAMOUFLAGE

CAN YOU GIVE ME SOME ADVICE ON HOW TO WEATHER A MODEL IN CAMOUFLAGE AND WHAT COLOR WILL SUIT BEST WHEN IN THE PROCESS OF WEATHERING.IM PLANNING TO WEATHER MY P40E PLANE BUT DONT KNOW WHICH COLOR AND WHICH PART OF THE PLANE TO FOCUS MORE.THIS WILL BE MY FIRST TIME ON TRYING TO WEATHER A MODEL.LASTLY WHICH PART OF A PLANE MODEL DO YOU APPLY A WASH?[8D]

As far as weathering you can use washes, pastels and a variety of other techniques.

As to where you should apply the weathering, wherever it’s appropriate. Crew entry areas and engine cowlings (as well as any other access areas) are prime areas for wear to occur.

Also, fuel, oil & hydraulic leaks may manifest themselves here and there. For that, you just have to do a bit of research to see where a leak occurred on a certain aircraft.

Now, for what colors to use, just experiment!

Fade to Black…

My all-purpose wash is flat black. It looks pretty much 100% accurate, no matter what the color its being applied over!(I’ve never been a fan of trying to “color coordinate” the wash with the model’s base coat. It just doesn’t look real to me…)
So, go with black!
