Weathering 1/48 F4U Corsair

Calling all F4U experts! I’m ready to start weathering my Tamiya 1/48 scale F4U Corsair. I’m a treadhead, or at least i was years ago. Just started scale modeling again and although I love aircraft, i’m far from an expert.

Anyway, i’m having trouble finding good source photos of wartime F4Us. Lots of great restorations out there, but they’re in pristine condition. I want to know exactly where the paint is supposed to be chipped. What the exhaust stains look like etc. Anyway, any photos you have of your own works or resources you can point me to would be great! I’ll be happy to post photos the final product when i’m finished. Not being an expert, i’m sure there will be quite a few inacuracies, but it’s been a really enjoyable kit and I think I’ll be happy with the result.

There’s a great book called “The Time Capsule Fighter” about a Corsair that is shown in great color photos of it’s ORIGINAL wartime paint. Lots of great close-ups. A MUST for any Corsair fan! I own it, and highly recommend it!

Thank you! I’ve just ordered it from Amazon! …i really should buy stock in that company…

When you get it, let me know what you think. You’re gonna love it!
