Waterworld Hellfire Gunboat

Waterworlds Hellfire Gunboat 1/35

I fell in love with his beast as soon as I seen it and pondered for many years about making it, I bit the bullet over 2 years ago and began construction with only a dozen or so screen grabs from the movie to work with
The quad 50 was sourced from an Academy M35A1 Gun Truck kit , unable to find the right model Peterbuilt in 1/35 or 32 I bought a die cast toy truck from Wish and hacked into it with the dremel
The barge was scratch built with Evergreen sheeting and odds and sods.
Unable to find suitable Pelican cases for the truck tray I stuck 2 together end on end and made a mold and cast 6 of them, all the tyres on the paddle wheel were also cast in resin from silicon molds I made
The base water effect is the good old tollet paper and PVA glue method and just came out great for a first effort , the whole model was first sprayed by rattle can in Dulux Rust Effect which has a great texture , I made my own washes from thinned down paints and every type of rust colour including MIG , Lifecolour and Tamiya paints, most of the the colours were hand mixed
The model took well over a year and a half to complete in my spare time , icluding being packed up and moved house and sat on the bench for months getting stared at while waiting for my mowjoe to come back but I was happy how it came out
I have even had an offer by the Waterworld show in Hollywood to buy the model , I dont think I could part with it and its so delicate it would be hard to get to Hollywood in one piece from Australa

That is so cool; amazing work. Thanks for sharing it. [t$t]

Stunningly incredible work! The weathering effects are awe inspiring. You should write up an article about your techniques for one of the modeling magazines/sites.

Really good work there. Now, can you make the catamaran too?

Thanks for the comments

The catarmaran would be very tricky , I need to finish a few more things on my list first
