Washes: How "watery" is to watery?

Ok Folks,
I tried a wash lastnight on a 1/72 KubelWagen last night…err actually very early this morning. I think it may have been to watery I know these “washes” are supposed to run everywhere but can you have a wash that is to watery?

I got some of the desired effect…should I try it again? Do another coat of the watery wash?
Thanks

Chris,
I normally use a small container, like the lid of a 35 mm film cassette. I add a couple drops of paint, and probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 drops of thinner–maybe a little more. I never really measure; these are just approximations. You’ll need to stir often to keep the pigment in suspension. Experiment some to find the right mix that works well for you.

Thanks Gip…I used a small wax cup(the kind you see people being given pills in) with some Testors Acryl and alchohol…Well I got a lil carried away with the alcohol…but I think it will turn out fine…I just added a second coat…

thats the point it should be thinner with a few drops of color. Paint with thinner is well…paint…lol, try not to take too much fluid on the brush or else it will maddly flow all over.

There’s a good post about washes posted by Domi, but I can’t find it at the moment. Maybe someone remembers it.
