To my fellow forum members,
It is imperative that you purchase AM metal landing gears for GWH P-61 Black Widow. All three OOB landing gears broke. Very poor design.

Sez the guy who busted them…[H][:P]
Are any available?
Back in the day Toshi, you’d drill them out as far up each piece as you could manage, and stick in a piece of wire.
Take a look at pictures of 61’s on the ground. One kind of unique feature is that the nose gear leg sticks forward at a pretty sharp angle.
I’ve seen the photos of which you speak of. The breaks happens at all the joints. The landing gears were in pieces before I even installed them. "As I say; “Bad Design”.
Yes, they sell GWH 1:48 metal landing gears. eBay!

Wow Toshi!I certainly did not expect that on such a new kit.My Monogram 61 seems to be bearing the weight nicely so far!
I’ve built a total of three Monogram 1:48 Black Widows. I always thought they were well designed. The GWH landing gears is just a bad design concept.

Can you be more specific----maybe use pics to illustrate?
No, sorry. I threw them out.
That’s a bummer. [:(]

Yes, it is. But that’s not going to stop me, I have already ordered via eBay a nice set of metal landing gears.
Toshi
Toshi,
Use these if you can:
Bronze is much stiffer than white metal.
Thank you so much RealG. I’ll keep this in mind on the next build. I’ve already ordered the metal landing gears. Thanks for the link.
Toshi
That’s a crying shame Toshi!
For an exorbitant $200 msrp kit, you shouldn’t have to buy ANYTHING aftermarket. That would seriously tick me off. [:@]
Yes, that is a shame on GWH. I personally don’t understand why you would make the joints at the landing gear be the weakest point. I have more questions than anger with GWH. In all honesty, in my humble opinion, the Monogram 1:48 Black Widows gears are made much more sturdy.
Luckily for consumers, eBay came to the rescue. From the tracking number attached to the gears these parts are in PA. I should see it no later than Saturday. Thank you for the support.
