In spite of all the gaming stigma that haunts those of us that choose to build this sort of genre, it really is fun and just as expensive as buying a Tamiya kit from HLJ as far as I am concerned. Here is a half completed piece I am working on for the Hobby Store in town. Cheers

I’ve always liked the GW minis and though I’ve never played I bought a few to use with D&D. Love the quality of their work but the prices are just a little too high for me!
Please post more, I love seeing something different from another P-51 or Tiger tank (much as I love them).
No I did not use the Citadel products, primarily because the finish is not up to my satisfaction and the Citadel system leaves your work looking more like a game piece, but then that is why they published their manual and DVD. I prefer to take what I purchase and improve it. I actually used standard acrylics from Tamiya, Alclad II and the tried and true colors from the Testors palatte at any stockist.
I just wanted an alternative to the whole rivet counting experience you get with participation in local modelling events here. So far the two tanks from Warhammer and the two beasts I completed recently have been very enjoyable, in spite of the price.
I marvel at a company that manufactures the Warhammer kits, ships them to the UK and then reboxes them to be sent back to our market. But it could be worse, it could be paying Tamiya prices for everything. I found a reasonable distributor and I am buying the clever little Dreadnaughts now.

Ahh, ok I use Citadel metallics like Boltgun Metal for small detail stuff but never tried painting anything large with them. I too mostly use Alcald II for large metal surfaces.
Nice work on the Dreadnought! BTW you can edit your post here, just click on the tiny yellow pencil icon down at the SW corner of your post. Not the most obvious thing but it works.

As an aside, I often use Reaper, P3, and Vallejo for my figs, but also employ a wide variety of craft and artist acrylics, too. They’re cheaper and come in a huge range of colors.

I love the whole Vallejo line as well including Game Color too. I use the paintbrush and Grex for painting.

Yeah, I use a lot of Vallejo paint on my figures along with the Model Master acrylic that I raid from the aircraft/armour drawer. Only thing I don’t like about the Vallejo is my bottles are old enough it’s somewhat dried out and I have to pull the top off the squeeze bottle and get a little out for my pallete using a toothpick.
I just plunked down a few bucks on an Eldar flying ship, check it out. The construction is straightforward but I chose use Tamiya Acrylics for the Metal finish and a bit of brush painting.

Ohhhh, that’s awesome! What Tamiya paints did you use there? Looks almost a mixture of aluminum and bronze on my monitor.
started with Titanium Gold and worked through Tamiya’s limited palatte. Shot some clear over it after the decals and badda bing it was done.

I have been asked to take a standard Gundam kit and make it more interesting, this should be a challenge as well. Attempting to make any kit look less like a toy is always a challenge to me.
