I was on patrol last night in my U-boat, U-2, and sank a Passenger Liner off of England (not a troop ship) with one torpedo in very stormy and rough seas…it was my last torpedo and I was kinda surprised when it went down so fast (kinda surprised it went down at all with one eel)…Huge ships: 24,000 tons…

I think that in the case of the Laconia incident, the Germans helped the passengers at sea and where afterwards attacked by USAF planes which disregarded the truce issued between the two sides in order to lead the survivors of Laconia to a safer place.
I made no such attempt…it was night and the ocean had 12 foot swells, and I saw no boats lowered or in the water after she sank…elapsed time from torpedo srike to sinking was approx. 13 minutes…very fast…

Too bad, you would probably get double bonus points for a hospital ship, triple if it was a neutral hospital ship.
I cannot put a label to the funnel markings, but the tonnage suggests a mail steamer, such as was owned by the railroad companies. She probably had about 300 passengers, an example would be HMS City of Benares which was sunk in September 1940 by U-48. Went down after about 30 minutes, took 250 lives including 70 British kids being evacuated from the Blitz, which put the kabosh to the whole Child Overseas Reception Board.
Really? In the game (Silent Hunter III), it has been the largest non-warship I’ve seen…24,000 tons is almost three times the tonnage of a C-3 and almost double that of a T-3…troop ships weigh in at around 10-12,000 tons…it wasn’t burning any lights, by the way…
