Wanted....Pro Modeler B-17G Flying Fortress 1/48....please ?

there must be something really special about the kit. i saw one on ebay about two weeks ago that the current bid was up to $305.00, with still a day or two left.
TOM

Shep Pain’s book on how to build dioramas shows this picture, the Monogram B-17G in 1/48 scale.

Thanks, pleanty of choice at Great Models…a bit like Hannants in the UK…except far cheaper…but kits a far cheaper in the US anyway…rip-off Britain again.
The Verlinden USAAF Bomber Crew looks especially good.
I have no idea why the Pro Modeler B-17 sells for silly money on e-bay, but I have a particular liking for Pro Modeler kits anyway, extra parts, nice decals, informative instruction booklet … and a nice srong box, handy when the kit is posted to you.
I have the PM Catalina, JU52, BF110, JU88 and Do217 and every kit has turned out well.
That is why i wanted the PM kit, not as a kit collector…but as a kit builder.
And thats one of the drawbacks of buying off E-Bay…if it’s collectable, it sells for big bucks.
Maybe Revell will re-initiate the Pro Modeler series again…I can but hope.

I goofed and didn’t buy a ProModeler B-17 when they were available. I do have a couple of the Visible B-17 with the clear side. I wish they would do that with the B-29 and B-24. Revellogram should make another late model B-17 with the correct staggered waist windows and cheyenne tail. I guess a Tamiya would be wishing for too much! Might as well ask for an early C/D too!

Melgyver…you have TWO Visible B-17’s ! ! One is rare…but TWO !! [:O]
I agree, be nice to see a 1/48 with staggered waist windows…and the legendary B-17F with Memphis Belle decals again…maybe the nice people at Dragon will do the honours…like they did with the JU188 …bring out a kit that no one else does.
I can’t understand why kit manufactures, after spending a fortune making molds then let the kit go OOP after only a year or less.

There is a 1/48 Monogram Pro Modeler B-17G, B-17 Flying Fortress Item number: 5973908270 at Ebay. The auction is over in 2 days.

Holy cow! Hannants have got the “ordinary” kit listed for between £20-£30 GBPs, which seems odd, given the tiny differences between the kits. All I could think is that someone is either barking mad, or it’s a special issue that a collector would be interested in. $305 for a model kit! You’d be frightened the break the seal on the bags!

I don’t quite understand people that collect kits for their rarity value & don’t make them. I know we’ve all got unmade kits in our stashes, but we’re intending to make them all one day… ain’t we? I don’t see what joy you can get out of having a box that you’re not going to open & build up… That’s most of the fun lost IMHO.

I see hey are on sale now, too!
