want to build 1/350 USS Wisconsin

Does anyone know hwho makes a 1/350 scale USS Wisconsin? Or what would be my best route to make one from one of the other Iowa class BB. Thanks for any and all your help.

Using the Tamiya New Jersey it would not be that hard to convert depending on the time period. Somebody on the web does offer the decals for the other 3 sisters.

Thanks. I looking to do it in the period of the Gulf war.

I am currently working on a conversion of the Tamiya 1/350 USS Missouri to the 1943 USS New Jersey using the old Tom’s Modelworks conversion set. I have also considered using the L’Arsenal foredeck piece, but it doesn’t look any different than the original deck in the kit. Can anyone offer any insight about the L’Arsenal piece?

HI , I am pleased to inform you of my participation in the building of the 9 foot model for the museum and donated by BaD SHIPMODELS .You CAN make a beautiful model of the " WHISKY " from the TAMIYA- NEW JERSEY .The only thing is , what year in her service life do you want to emulate ? If you wish to model her as she is now you will need to change part of the afterdeck as the NEW JERSEY deck profile is incorrect for the WISCONSIN . What I have done (I am sorry , on this I took NO pictures ) is remove ALL the wood decks from the NEW JERSEY model .This isn,t as hard as it sounds .Then make sure you have BOTH the EDUARD and GOLD MEDAL MODELS P.E. sets .That way you won,t have as much work as I did . Then cut OFF the sterndeck area in a line even with the AFT helo deck area edge … When you replace the decks you can use EVERGREEN sheet with the " V " grooves in it that matches the decking on the ship as is .The TAMIYA ship is raised lines and even I stretched my abilities to dulicate this so I took the route to get the decks right .The thing is .This is the only thing you need to do .I could NOT find any difference in the rest of the model from the WISCONSIN .The only other option is to buy the re-release of REVELL,S model , which is long in the tooth But , servicable for any fit before 1982 . I do hope this does NOT prevent you from doing this model Go for it and if you get bogged down contact me through the e-mail section of this forum . tankerbuilder P.S. the TAMIYA deck measures out almost .040 in thickness so compensate for this with the EVERGREEN sheet .

Tankerbuilder,

Isn’t the tower different from New Jersey? According to the photos, she more closely resembles Iowa and Missouri.

warshipguy’s right, the ECM housings are more streamlined in shape than New Jersey’s, as BB-62 recieved hers in the '60s for her 'Nam tour. 61, 63, and 64 didn’t get thiers until during the '80s re-activation.[t$t]

That is correct , and if the builder has plenty of pictures there shouldn,t be a problem . tankerbuilder

Unless I missed something, you didn’t indicate if you are looking to build her in her modern configuration or her World War II fit. If its the latter, there are some resin conversion sets available. You might check out Yankee Model Works, which offers some reallly nice resin replacement/conversions, including the main and secondary turrets.

Hope this helps out some.
