I was just looking at the poster for this and thinking about your post about themes…. Although this one says a direct link to the 1970s, I think you might be able to loophole a kit that was originally released in the 1970s. Take a picture of the copyright marks and include it with your entry. :smiling_face_with_horns:

This is always a great show with excellent builds on the tables & plenty of vendors to increase your stash size. The awards/trophies are some the best that I’ve ever seen too.

If I’m not too mistaken, I think I remember that awards are only given out to the top 7 winners. Plus, there’s a few specialty awards also. But I was only at this show once long ago. So things could have changed since then.

WhatIfRebel, I believe that you’re correct about only 7 awards being given out and then the “specialty” awards too. They are very beautiful awards so if you’re “lucky” enough to win one they really stand out on your display shelf. I still enjoy attending to look at the builds on the tables, to cruise the vendors’ tables, and to talk modeling with the attendees.

I’m not planning to go to this model show. If anybody else plans to go, please take plenty of pics if you can and post them in this thread to share so everybody can see what was at the show.

Hi,

I was at this show today and I liked it. It was well attended and had a lot of nice builds. Some general notes:

This is focused only car models. There were some aircraft, AFVs and figures, but I would say about 98% cars

There were plenty of used kits and accessories for sale, but again about 98% cars.

The prices for used kits etc. were (in my opinion) way too high. I did not buy anything.

The show will move to a new venture next year, right across from the EAA museum:

Here are the pictures I took with my phone at the WAMC 2025 Show in Oshkosh today. I am not a professional photographer, but it will give you a good impression of the event.

You’re right. That show is mostly 90% or more focused on automotive. I went to a WAMC show once (and only once) several years ago. Anything I have to say would be similar to the comments you already gave.
I realize this show is trying to “branch out” and get other categories of models entered/shown, but it is still mostly a “car show”. Even the vendors and the awards given out are mostly automotive.
I like cars just as much as the next person. But my fascination with them is limited. Since I can’t own or drive a vehicle during my life due to eyesight issues, I never developed any sort of fascination with cars or automotive history, etc. It never really interested me. The only exception…and I do mean only…has been my interest in the '48 Tucker Torpedo automobile. It’s really a shame nobody makes a plastic model kit of that as I’d love to have one.

Anyway, the show looks fun, but it just doesn’t hold my interest.

I also attended this show, as a spectator, and was very impressed by the quality of models on the tables. I thought that the awards given to thew winners were amazing and top notch! I found some good bargains at the vendors’ tables and most of them were very willing to negotiate on their prices.
