W W 1 Bombers ?

So far I’ve only been able to find a 0/400 Handley Page by Airfix. Are there any companies still producing bomber kits ? I’d really like to get a Gotha. Dragon, I think is the best producer, but my hobby store said they seem to be cutting back. That sucks because I’m really inertested in WW1 biplanes.

Hannants (UK) will help - Roden produce a Gotha or two - have a look at Hannants web site - even if you do not order from them (postage!!!) it is very comprehensive and will tell you what is available. I have not built the 0400 yet (by Airfix) - it is a very old kit and is re issued now and again. I am told it has a number of short comings - don’t they all - in the area of the wing fold join and the trailing edges rib tapes etc. There was a review a while ago which I felt was a little bit precise, as reviews have to be, otherwise the rivet (or in this case stitch) counters have a field day. I have a Roden kit of the Felixstowe (reviewed recently in FSM) which looks quite good and so the Gotha wil no doubt be acceptable at least. Let me know how you get on with the 0400 however please. If you like WWI bi - planes generally, then the world is your oyster of course. I think you will also find on this forum a lot of help (should you need it) on rigging,

www.fiddlersgreen.net, they produce cardstock models and have quite a few ww1 fighters and a couple bombers. give it a try you might like it

If you’re not just building multi-engined bombers, Blue Max makes some beautiful ground attack single engined bombers ( DH-4, Halberstadt CLII, and the LVG CVI). Also Eduard has a great Roland CII, which I am working on now.
best wishes GregL

Roden, Eduard, Eastern Express, and Toko all produce a wide variety of WWI aircraft. Try www.squadron.com.
